Hi All,

I completed my applications (i.e. submitted secondaries, paid fees, LORs received, etc.) around mid September, and the majority of my schools still have not gotten back to me. At the time of this posting, that would be around 70 days!

I just wanted to know what your experiences are with interviews. How many days after you were complete did you hear from some of your schools regarding interviews?

Anywhere from 15-90 so far. I don't think there is such thing as a "normal" timeframe

15 minutes was the earliest... 3 months was the longest so far. There really is no rule

Agree with this. Some schools hit me up with an invite 2-3 weeks after I submitted secondaries, while others took almost 10-11 weeks. Just have to wait it out 😀

My shortest was a weekend and longest was six months last cycle, both if which resulted in acceptances. It is very school-dependent. Very-high-stat applicants are also likely to get the earliest interviews.

So far this cycle:
Total length of cycle thus far - 143 days
Longest wait for an interview - 143 days
Shortest wait for an interview - 12 hours

for the 143 days did u actually get the interview? or are u still waiting?

I received my most recent interview Wednesday, 143 days after I submitted my secondary. I've also received an interview 12 hours after submission of my secondary to that school.

Basically, my point is it varies. A lot.

I applied last year, with all of my secondaries submitted by early September. My final interview happened in mid-April, and I was accepted to that school in early May. Don't stress out about the timing. You can't change it, and you therefore shouldn't be stressing out about it.

I think some schools just take a while because your application is getting kicked around to different people for a while. I guess that this usually happens unless you're a surefire applicant for that school.

True that/dat brother.

I applied to 28 schools and heard back from only 10 of them so I don't know what's up with the other 18.

My quickest invite was a week after I was complete, and the latest one so far was 3 months later

The cycle has been going on for 140+ days already? That's depressing.

Thank you guys. I think all schools should have a 2.5 month deadline to get back to students about interviews 😛

The problem is that they receive A LOT (~25%) of all applications within the first few days of the secondary websites being opened. So heaving a deadline to hear back within 2.5 months or whatever would make it more competitive if you submit your apps early.

At the same time, I fully agree that it's also not fair to those who submitted in September to have silence from 80% of their schools going into December.

I mentioned this in another post. I understand how frustrating it is to hear nothing but silence from a school for months (I understand because that was me last year), but it's also very frustrating to get constant (every 2 weeks) updates from the school saying that you are still under review for interview consideration. Especially frustrating when the email just says that there is a "status update" on the admissions page, and nothing has changed. It's frustrating, but it's not like it's unfair. I submitted in September/October last year and I knew full well that I would be waiting around for a while. That's just the consequence of applying after the huge group of applications in the summer.

Makes sense 🙂
