What is VCU's reputation?

Hey guys, I was just wondering if any of you knew of VCU's reputation in the dental community. i.e. Not what you or your friends thought of the school, rather what other dental professionals do. It is my state school and I was accepted there , but I'm not sure how it really measures up to other schools. It's enterance stats are certainly in the bottom 1/4 of schools, but I know how little that really means. On the other hand I see a lot of people choosing VCU over some big name schools and I'm just curious what they know that I don't! I also thought the program was AMAZING and I will be happy to attend there come July of 2008! 🙂

vcu is very strong clinically. they just changed their curriculum a little bit this year so that we are more prepared to work on patients earlier. already as a D1 we have done class II amalgam preps and restorations inside the mannequins and using mirrors for indirect vision..many schools teach preps benchtop first but we never did anything benchtop, we've done everything as we really would do on a real patient..hope that helps some..you persian by the way?

lemoncurry I'm sorry to tell you that there is no other school. But I commend your efforts lol.

VCU is a very good school. IMO they're probably one of the better "clinical" educations one can receive. If you want to be a clinician, and you get in-state then VCU is easily a no-brainer for you.

I'd pick VCU over the likes of Harvard, UNC, UW etc...those schools are 'reputable' for their didactic education, but for a clinical education I think schools like UOP, ASDOH, Louisville, VCU etc are much better choices.
