Would you call this distribution left-skewed (since the lower numbers are on the left-hand side)? [Heavier left-foot]
Right skewed..
I had to retrieve my textbook 🙂
A distribution is skewed to the right if the right side of the histogram extends much farther out than the left side.
So I think I'm right😕
After the inversion (putting the lower gpas on the left)

and who are you?stop bumping this stupid thread
hurr durr bump 😛 lol moar votes plz!!
i'm you.
stop bumping this stupid thread
i can't see how putting another one would be less annoying so no, you shouldn't.
then quit bumping it!
I agree this thread is very silly. GPA is wildly unstandardized among schools. If anything, sGPA might be a better poll.
You are getting more votes though! Soon you might have a large enough sample that is representative of the population.
Representative only of the SDN population and sadly limited because these GPA's represent 1 year, 2 years, 3 years, or 4+ years of college completed and thus cannot be directly compared.
You could just subdivide the poll by year, if that many options is even possible for a poll.
No that's true but I'm just pointing out that this poll will never achieve a representative sample that no matter how many responses it gets.
It's the representative sample of active SDN users?

There's still selection bias.
0/10crap, i'm on the lower end, 3.71 right now and already a rising 3rd year...oh well i guess being biomedical engineering might make up for it....a little
haven't even started freshman year but due to summer classes it's about a 3.7 😀
well that severely depressed me 🙁...not even kidding.not for long
The best advice I got before starting college was to push myself and get the highest GPA I could for my first semester, as it's surprising how little your GPA may change from one semester to the next.
~80 credits in... and my gpa is about .01 lower than my first semester GPA. I know it's mainly psychological, but try to give yourself the highest starting point you can and you'll have a lot more confidence as you progress.

It's one thing comparing yourself to people on SDN and another comparing yourself with the rest of the US population.
I'm going to do that in a couple of week once you guys are done with your complaining about this thread. I don't know about you guys but I find this information very informative.
Again, this is not informative in the least. If you are looking to see where you stand as an applicant the AAMC publishes free data (which, may I add, is far more detailed) based on GPA, MCAT, ethnicity, residence, etc. Additionally you could browse MDApps profiles to see the outcomes of applicants similar to yourself. A generic poll asking for one's GPA (regardless of what year) provides no meaningful information. It's one thing comparing yourself to people on SDN and another comparing yourself with the rest of the US population. Yes, SDN is skewed, but HOW skewed are we really? You're right, a more accurate reading (as I stated a few posts above), is to do a breakdown of what year you're in instead of not knowing.

Did OP get banned for making this thread?
Are bans permanent on SDN or are you unbanned after x amount of time? I'm asking since the OP got banned.
I bet wasn't the only one who reported this thread...![]()
thanks. you watch the show?
