What are your pharmacy's/company' policy on personal cell phone use in the pharmacy?

At my store at CVS, it really just depends on the pharmacist . For example, one pharmacist would require all their tech to put their phones at a designated area (like by the work station, or the sink area) out in the open on a table. Or another pharmacist would require the technicians to lock up their phone's in their lockers, unless there was an emergency, then the tech was allowed to have their phones on them.

I had a patient hand me their cell phone because they took a picture of their insurance card. As I was trying to read the card, I swiped the picture by accident and the previous photo was the patient's nude selfie. The patient was not attractive in case you are wondering. After that day, I refuse to have any cell phones in the pharmacy.

From what I've seen at like all Walgreens I've been to, cells phones are allowed but situational..Like if the queue is pretty much done for the day, if the day is really slow, if you really need to look something up, you're expecting an important phone call, family issues requiring looking at text, you're just a student there on rotations, sure, cell phones allowed. If there are like 100 scripts printed and there is a line at the counter...You better not be on your phone. My past experiences at CVS usually allowed cellphones too, but only when it is slow.

One practice that I've seen done recently at Walgreens was that they intentionally slowed down their work so they can spread out work throughout the day. Apparently the DMs started keeping track of how a store does during certain hours and if they see that you have the queue done at say..8pm and the store closes at 10pm...Guess which store is getting their hours slashed.

Having your cell phone is optional but encouraged. Employees can use the pharmacy's app to look up item availability, drug reference, and showing customers what it can do. If a customer uses our online services, they are more likely to remain a customer.

Still no personal use of cell phone though.

I use the Home Depot app. I can type in an item and it tells me the aisle and bay number to find it. Chipotle...10 minutes my burrito is waiting for me.
