This thread is most specific to Wayne State students (sorry, we're taking over the board  ), but what kinds of things do you do at orientation? Why is it a week long? I know you register for classes, probably get another tour, buy your books, take a CPR course?, and learn about the school....but honestly - does all this take an ENTIRE week? 😕

hey, you would probably get better responses if you asked this on the Wayne State thread.... I asked this question 3-5 weeks ago.... I think the general consensus was that not much goes on, there are some financial aid presentations that they make you go to, but they aren't really all that important.

oh and if u look at last years schedule, orientation was only like 3 days.. makes me wonder why they made it 5 days this year? 😕

You get drunk, you bang chicks, and you regret it for four years.

Oh, did I say that out loud?

its much like prison.

they striped you naked, throw powdered sugar at you and then fire a high pressured hose at you to clean you up some.

The mornings are all different, usually focusing on some inane boring ass topic.

Mon: Welcome speeches and introductions by a lot of people you will come to know.
Tues: Professionalism (waste of time), Oath of Commitment, Discussions with MS4's
Wed: Ton of stuff about the curriculum, all of which can be found by reading the curriculum guide they give you (W.O.T.)

Thurs: I think this was diversity day, (HUGE W.O.T.)

The afternoons are split up based on your last name and alphabet.
Registration (Necessary)
Financial Aid 101 (Helpful)
Intro to Library and Learning Resouce Center (Good only for getting your WSU-Med Email)
Financial Planning (W.O.T.)

Last year they didnt take attendance or anything, so don't feel obligated to stay out of fear that they will know you skipped out. The only truly mandatory thing is registration, for obvious reasons.

If you are looking for the, "You get drunk, you bang chicks, and you regret it for four years," then go to the class parties each night. They can be fun, you get to meet people, etc. However, I have heard some hook-up regrets, so beware!
