What level math did you take, which social sciences?

The school I want to apply to (St. Augustine) has no math requirement but under UCSD's DPT/MPT "undergrad preparation" info sheet it says that one of the typical requirements may be statistics...

I'm not terrific at math so this makes me nervous. Do I really *need* to take a course that's not explicitly required on St. Augustine's admissions form?

Additionally, they do not mention anything very specific about which social sciences you should take. Do I need to take psychology, sociology and anthropology or just one of the three...

I'm sorry if these sound like stupid questions. I am not familiar with the American college system. Thanks for your help.

Call or e-mail admissions they'll be able to give you the true answer. I would hate for someone to tell you one thing and be wrong.

If you plan to apply to other programs besides just St. Augustine, then I would suggest taking a Statistics course. You don't have to be good at math to do well in statistics, it's not like calculus or anything like that. My undergrad also had a Biological Statistics class, so if you are really opposed to math, you can look for a class like that. As far as social science goes, most, if not all, the schools I've applied to require general psychology AND abnormal psychology, and then another social science. For the other social science, I think they like sociology or anthropology (I would say soc. before anth.).

But, if St. Augustine is all you're applying to, then you may not need to worry about all these classes.

I would take statistics now. Even if one school doesn't require it, many others do. It is something that is very practical, that you will use in DPT school and beyond. If you can find a stats class that is tailored for the science or health professions, even better.

As for the social sciences, check directly with the schools to be sure you have everything covered. Many will gladly look at your current transcript and let you know what you are missing.
