It's in FA under chemical carcinogens, pathoma mentions it, but all I see is association w/centrilobular hepatic necrosis and fatty change. Didn't find anything in google with a quick search. Is it HCC?

I tried to look this up in medium robbins since i have already read the chapter, no where does it say that CCl4 directly causes HCC. It is listed under a table for Drug- and toxin induced hepatic injury. As one of the drug/toxin that causes Centrilobular necrosis (others include Bromobenzne, acetaminophen, halothane, rifampin. Other than this baby robbins said that it can cause both liver and kidney damage.

no conclusive evidence based on epa

Yes it's HCC and by a similar mechanism to alcoholism leading to HCC. The attempted regeneration of hepatocytes that's part of classic cirrhosis --> lots of opportunities for a mutation and neoplastic change.

CCl4 is often used in the lab to induce cirrhosis in test animals and always seems to pop up in the methods sections in papers I read.
