What MCAT score should I aim for? How do my stats look so far?

Non-traditional (4 years since undergrad when I apply), CA resident applying to MD and DO schools in 2013.

B.S. (Bio)
- cGPA = 3.58 (upward trend)
- sGPA = 3.54

M.P.H. (Epi)
- cGPA = 4.0 (I am aware this doesn’t help my undergrad GPA)

Volunteer:
- 100 hours volunteering at hospital (ER & OR)
- 80 hours clinic aide (took vital signs at urgent care)
- 80 hours peer-health educator
*Starting at a hospice in September

Teaching/Tutoring (Paid):
- 3 years high school teacher (2 yrs part-time, 1 yr full-time)
- 2 years tutoring kids with learning disabilities
- 1 quarter TA for undergrad bio class

Research (Unpaid):
- 4 years clinical research
- 6 months basic science research
- International research (field work for 4 days, prep/post-analysis for 3 months)
- Master’s thesis
- 1 Pending publication

Other:
- 50 hours shadowing (general/plastic surgeon, urologist/family practitioner, and pediatric pulmonologist - all MDs)
- Extensive traveling

Thanks in advance for your input!

very , very jelly of your ECs. Congrats. If you shoot for a 45, then you will make higher than if you shot for the score you wanted. Always aim high.

33 or better.

got it. thanks.

Thanks, but to be fair, I am a non-trad student so of course I had a lot of time to do those things. Very true about aiming high. I just wanted to get a sense of what my scores should be as I take practice tests.

I made the mistake of aiming for 30+ because my adviser told me anything above a 30 is competitive...aim for a 45.
