Now I know all about the ranking but those don't necisarly imply how prestigous a school is.For example in undergraduate rankings Duke is #5 and Brown is #15,But Brown has more prestige than Duke. What are some Medical schools that turn heads when they are mentioned in a conversation.

-I went to _________ school
-WOW!!! Oh my god!

I concur; looks like this thread is turning into a petition to oust this OP...here's hoping.

everyone has such a stick up their ass, ill brave the oh so taboo topic of medical school prestige, its always going to be subjective, everyone has their own idea of prestigious medical schools and depending on actual knowledge of the topic, one could have wildly different answers, my list would be HMS, Yale, UMass, Hopkins, UCSF, UCLA, USC, Duke, Northwestern, Cornel, i feel these are all prestigious schools, but of course i will be attacked for forgetting blah, blah school or for adding USC or some ****

I don't think folks have an issue with the issue raised. Check out the OP's other threads and you will see what the issue is.

Remember from his previous ramblings, he does not know what "OP" means!

Look OP, you cannot talk a whole lotta **** and make curt, snide and insanely ignorant remarks CONSTANTLY and then expect people to take you seriously, EVER!

You lose! No more fun for you! 86 is your number!

what could possibly be so taboo about prestige? you did not seriously think THAT was the problem, did you?

comments like this one (found in the "any lesbian/gay premeds
thread) are taboo

I highly doubt that an openly homosexual would ever be admitted to a great medical school, well maybe UCSF or Stanford

that is why people have a stick lodged where the sun don't shine - this guy is a tool and needs to stop insulting people!

There are two scales, that of the lay community and that of the medical community.

According to the medical community:

Harvard, Yale, UPenn, Columbia, Cornell, UCSF, UCLA, UCSD, Stanford, UWash, WashU, Northwestern, Pitt, Duke, JHU, Vanderbilt, Michigan...

According to the lay community, schools that would be removed from the above list:

UCSF, UCLA, UCSD, UWash, Vanderbilt, UtSouthwestern, Pitt, and maybe even WashU and Michigan...

Schools that would be added:

Dartmouth, Brown, Mayo, University of Chicago, and *Princeton, Berkeley, and MIT* - the last three indicate just how ignorant the lay community is on the topic of medical schools.

It means the people who are getting some. You know, getting laid.

I'd like to add Notre Dame School of Medicine 🙂

[ND2005]

I'd like to add Notre Dame School of Medicine 🙂

If I ever win the lottery or develop some incredible new medical technology, I'm going to give all my money to start the ND SOM.

In other words no one the OP would know. 🙄

[prana_md]

DO NOT apply to Pitt.
Pitt totally sucks.
No prestige AND no one getting laid.
😉

EDIT: I could watch that dancing troll all day.

[jebus]

I thought that was implied. Can you imagine him trying to get some play with the attitude he uses here?

What the hell lady, why don't you just suck it instead of calling me an dingus?Jesus Christ what the fu*k is wrong with you?

No way in hell Brown has more prestige than Duke, in undergrad or any grad/prof school. Brown should be removed from the Ivy League. It is the Ringo Starr of the group.

Hey, did you get the memo? No taking this thread seriously!

Hey, did you get the memo? No taking this thread seriously!

I think it's time to bring some evidence to the forefront.

If you look at the threads Jurmanium has started, you'll find an interesting trend. This was brought up previously, but I wanted to dig deeper. Besides the current gem, "What Medical schools are considerd prestigous", there is...

"Please help me get into a top medical school"
I know I'm still very far away from even applying to med school,I'm starting college in the fall and my dream is to one day attend a top 10 med school, preferably Harvard,Duke,Penn,or stanford. The thing is I don't want to be ignorant of all that is needed to get into these schools like I was in highschool,I really messed up my freshman year because I thought nothing of it.I know there's no room for that when applying to med schools. So other than atleast a 3.8 gpa and a high MCATs score what else do I need to get accepted to one of those schools.I want to start off real strong my freshmen year.

"Do girls look at you differently"
When you tell them you're a premed student.Well it happens to me all the time. For some reason they think they'll be living all glamourous if there with me but none of them realize that I wont be making any real money until I'm 30.

"How much money money do you expect to make after you're done with residency"
I dont think I'll be making much because I'll still have to go through atleast 2 mor e years of fellowship

Conjecture: The lack of respect OP receives from others has prompted him to seek an occupation which will increase his social stature.

[hannahx]

-I went to _________ school
-WOW!!! Oh my god!

I haven't come across a single school that's ever made me bend over!

Please stop writing in bold, dude! It's hard to read.

And I thought the OP was still trying to get into an undergrad school? Shouldn't that take precedence over "Which TOP schools should I attend in my four year long fantasy?"

Get into a university first.

Once you get accepted, then you can make a sandwich board to wear that displays your achievements and "IMPLIES" the prestige of the med school that actually accepted you. Seriously. After you've worked for it, you can really go all out. It can be gilded, man. It can be encrusted in conflict diamonds. 😎

Yeah, and everyone knows you can't get into medical school unless you go to Harvard for undergrad. Even Yale grads have to go to the caribbean.

The Hollywood Upstairs Medical College.

But seriously, if prestige is the main reason you choose a given medical school, you don't belong in medical school.
