what month do most ppl take step 2?

Hi Guys,

I've been debating when to take step 2.
If I don't take it in July (and instead do a home rotation, followed by an away rotation, then another one at my home school), it will be September/October by that time. I can take that month off-- but i'm worried then interviews will start and I wont be ablet o focus on step 2. ? ?

So, I just wanted to know what several different ppl are doing? When is the average time ppl take step 2 who are doing ophthamology?

I've heard about 1. July and 2. December 17 (by then I guess all interviews are finished -- but then you only have less than 2 weeks to study ) (that is for those of us with the December 31 deadline for CK/CS.

Maybe I should just take step 2 in July --which means sacrificing my early away rotation -- how important is that away rotation anyway? I just don't know.

I posted this in a previous thread and there were other good replies from others. check it out: http://forums.studentdoctor.net/showthread.php?t=193570 scroll down a bit and don't post STep II stuff there per demspawn's request. 😉

With respect to CK, since you have a deadline, how about late October/ early November? By that time you will have already forwarded your USMLE transcript to SF match (August/Septmeber) and your scores probably won't affect your application that much...Just a thought.

Interviews won't start in full force until November!
