I'm mean of course you'll have the 10 greatest movies of all time, which are not necessarily in this order...
StarWars 4, 5, 6,
Indiana Jones 1
Lord of the Rings 1, 2, 3
The Godfather 1, 2
The Sixth Sense

But don't forget these great movies either

Batman Begins
Indiana Jones 2, 3
X-men 1, 2
Gladiator
The Shawshank Redemption
Goonies
Aliens 1, 2
Casablanca
The magnificent 7
2001 space odyssey
Superman 1, 2 (the rest are crap)
Fight Club
So I married an Axe Murderer
Tommy Boy
Bourne Identity and Supremacy

(If you know this one you don't need me to tell you how cool you are.)

lol! that was a classic! highly recommend it to everyone!

Toy Story of course for my pediatric patients

I'm really suprized no one has disagreed with my top ten list. I mean yeah, they are the best movies of all time, but usually someone thinks of some movie that should replace one of mine.
And 1992corolla, the last unicorn???!! Dude that movie gave me the creeps when I was a kid. You might as well throw in "Something Wicked This Way Comes"

Cast Away with the ice skate extraction scene on repeat.

I'm very disappionted Dumb and Dumber hasn't mentioned
Saving Silverman
any movie about baseball except The Natural
Can't Hardly Wait (I think everyone should appreciate Jennifer Love Hewitt in it)
U571
Ocean's 11
Saturdays Warrior
The Notebook (I think the patient pool would at least double)
Behind Enemy Lines
Blackhawk Down
Elf (all year round)

to name a few

Uh, yes "donkeywhisperer (???)" there are MUCH MUCH better movies than Lord of the Rings and Sixth Sense. Frankly I never thought much of the first two LOTR movies (way too boring) and Sixth Sense (great ending though). If you're interested in foreign films, then there's about 500 films worth seeing and more powerful than the ones you mentioned, and if you wanna stick to American movies, check out the stuff from 1970s, where nearly all the major films that came out were masterpieces: Chinatown, Last Picture Show, Last Tango in Paris, The Conformist, ANY john cassavetes movie, Cries and Whispers (ALL Ingmar Bergman), Days of Heaven, Aguirre: Wrath of God, Apocalypse Now, The Conversation...

And on and on. Sorry this post was so long, its just that recently everyone thinks that the top ten or 20 greatest movies of all time came post-2000, whereas cinema has a 100 year + history.

Probably kid stuff like Finding Nemo, Babe, Home Alone, A Christmas Carol.

Lets- not forget Barney
I luv u -u luv me

Beavis and Butthead do america.

For my rude patients:
Vanity Fair
Fast and the Furious I and II
Titanic

For my cool patients:
Fast Times at Ridgemont High
Better Off Dead
The Last Starfighter

Wow. This guy really took me seriously.
Well Stroszeck thanks for the post, and for listing some movies that you thought were good. I'm still sticking to my top ten. I know that Starwars didn't have the best acting or writing, but for me it's in the top ten cause no other movie had more of an effect on my imagination as a kid. There are other similar sentimental reasons for the rest of the movies on my top ten list.
I was disappointed that you only mentioned a few foreign films worth seeing. I haven't seen all that many, but here are some that I thought were really good: Ameli, Life is Beautiful, Babbet's Feast, Jean de Florett, Manon de Sources, Crouching Tiger, The Seven Samurai, The Red Balloon  ,and Waking Ned Divine (I think that one is foreign).
Now, when it comes to the 70's I'm not a big fan of a lot of the movies that came out during that time. Movies like Apocalypse Now, Taxi driver, and Rosemary's Baby are just a little too depressing for me. I realize that the cinematography, acting, and writing are all very good and that they are films worth seeing, but I don't ever just pop in one flew over the ****oo's nest just for the hell of it. There are some 70's films that I really do like, like Marathon Man, Papillon, A Man Called Horse,.... Here are some good 60's films too: The Great Escape, The Guns of Navarone, To Kill a Mockingbird
In conclusion I don't think it's fair to imply that someone is an uncultured swine just because they prefer more recent movies. :)
But please list more good movies. You sound like you have good taste in films, and there were a few that you listed that I haven't seen, but now I want to rent i.e. Chinatown, Wrath of God.

Any Clint Eastwood movie.
Outlaw Josie Wales --> Million Dollar Baby

I still gotta see million dollar baby, but I'd recommend "Unforgiven", and "The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly"

BTW, the last starfighter was awesome!

I'm surprised nobody mentioned The Dentist. Now that is a classic movie. I think there are sequels as well but I haven't seen those.

If you haven't seen it, I recommend you definitely take a look.

the usual suspects. dude, seriously.

bruce campbell vs. the army of darkness

willow.

easily in the top 10 ALL TIME.

Powder Man

that was a good movie...something about a white guy being an outcast..

the never ending story.

babes in toyland.

i can't stop.

OH CRAP! I think it finally happened...The bs stress about this crappy admissions process  . Yeah, I actually did take you seriously donkeywhisperer, and I honest didn't mean to dismiss you.

Anyway, yeah, Chinatown is a pretty damn good movie, and Aguirre Wrath of God has probably one of the craziest, most bizarre and yet strangely enough poetic endings of all time. Seriously.

Since I talked crap about post-2000 or recent movies, here are some that you'll love:

The Son - (directed by Dardenne bros.) Its a really emotionally charged film, but NOT for all tastes. Try reading Roger Ebert's review on this one.

Owning Mahowny - One of Philip Seymour Hoffman's BEST UNDERRATED movies, about a compulsive gambler.

George Washington - If you liked Days of Heaven, then SEE this. Its about a bunch of kids and adolescents hanging out in the South and a deadly accident that ends up happening. This is one of the most beautiful films I've seen in recent times. Really, the cinematography and the naturalistic acting/unique dialogue is pretty cool.

I think some other people already mentioned the following, equally brilliant and entertaining movies: Adaptation, CIty of God.

OH, and here's a really cool favorite from England (of all places) I just remembered... from late 70s but considered to be THE CRIME film of that time:
THE LONG GOOD FRIDAY. This one absolutely KICKS ASS, but they speak in cockney accents so you might not understand every word.

The Dark Crystal

Labrynth...for the ladies who love David Bowie

Rad...with Bart Connor

Flight of the Navigator

Dr. Zhivago

and for the annoying patients...

Glitter

Gigli

and anything else done by female singers/actresses who suck at both.

the peanut butter solution ( if you have seen it, lets just say its unforgetable)

I'd play family type movies (to create the family atmosphere)

like a disney animation or something

Or, a dentist related movie, like the whole nine yards

Or, an instructional film on dentistry,

Or, an xbox 360, or the latest console! that's my idea! DON'T STEAL IT!

i'd also have a coffee machine, duh! and the room walls will be sky blue, with white clouds on the top :)

Tiled floor would be great - carpet wears, and looks old and trashy in the long term.

well, i hope i get an acceptance so this is possible

finding nemo... :)

and i'm gonna make my fishtank look like that in the dental office! :D

Handing out candy and pushing the use of honey as tooth paste wouldn't hurt the bottom line.
Fargo and Slapshot over and over and over!!!!!! And Top Gun, because Gun is almost spelled the same as Gum.
