Yeah, I took the new neck one off, It was offending some people. Although, It was my attending who said it. Not me!

1. You will make a good attending someday
2. For some reason things that seem easy on step 1 can become much more difficult when you lack multiple choice, you are knee deep in bowels, and there are 8 other people in the room staring at you waiting for your response. I dunno. Maybe I'm weird that way.

When being pimped, I often think in my head, "can I have 5 choices to pick from". One day I will say it to the person pimping me.

Hard to tell if you're being sarcastic or not... but if not...
May be hard to get wrong if you had a >240 on step 1, very easy to get wrong if you study for the big picture and find that type of thing a BS detail that will never have any relevance to your practice of medicine. Especially when it has been 6 mo since you studied any of that bs in the first place.

If youre expecting surgery a decent score is a must. Maybe the attending want to see if the student is good enough academically for surg. Then that question is very fair. The q wouldn't be fair if it was a pedi rotation. What do you mean "big picture"? This is medicine - not maths.

At least your Q had an answer! The worst Qs are the ones where you have to read the attendings mind. I just feel like you were implying I was a gunner because I knew of the ret gene.

I matched into general surgery, and I couldn't answer that question as an M3 or M4.
