So here's my situation: I wasn't quite sure what to do when I first got out of high school, so I went to my local CC for my first 3 semesters of college taking gen eds and some pre-pharm courses. I then transferred from there to my local state university with a cGPA of 3.84 where I took a few more pre-req's for one semester. I just now transferred to another state university with a cGPA of 3.64.

I'm currently looking at getting a B.S. in Biomedical Science, but is this the best route to go? I don't plan on doing anything with the degree, other than apply to pharmacy college. I'm just afraid that if I do apply and don't get in, that I will be a bit stranded, working towards nothing.

I have a ton of EC's: Pre-pharm club, soccer coach, 2 years retail exp. and 1 year clinical experience as a tech. research in the chem dept. etc...
What do you guys think my next move should be here...?

If your GPA stays about the same (~3.6) and, if applicable, you do well (70+ composite), I can't imagine you not getting into pharmacy school.

The whole stranded thing does suck, but I mean, if pharmacy school's what you want, then you apply to many schools, and if you don't get accepted at any of them, you can ask what you can do to enrich your application. but I can't imagine it being a problem, with your grades.

I understand what you mean, about not doing anything with the degree. Perhaps a better question to answer for yourself: what will you do if you don't get into pharmacy school? Does the BS set you up for anything else? For instance, would you consider going to grad school instead, or between receiving your BS and entering pharmacy school, if you needed to? If pharmacy is what you want, make your choices based on both 1) getting into pharmacy school and 2) having other options if 1) becomes more difficult than anticipated or is no longer your goal.

Thanks for the post guys, both helped a bunch. I'm just getting those what-to-do-with-my-life jitters i guess. Pharmacy is my passion and I've been in the field in one form or another coming on 4 years now. I"m 20 and getting into pharmacy college is my main goal and being a pharmacist is what I am set on doing with the rest of my life.

Getting there is what I am concerned about.

Thanks a ton though guys!

BTW, you don't think the fact that I've been to 3 different universities will have an effect on getting accepted do you?

Awesome. I was getting a 'lil worried after I started hopping around. Just trying to find a university for me.

So looks like I'm in good shape then? My sGPA may be a bit lower than my cumulative...

OH... should I just drop the non pre-req classes I have lined up for the fall then too? I have some classes that are in the BMS curriculum but aren't pharmacy pre-req's. Should I just hammer out the pre-req's first?

Even if it's in that neighborhood (B+/A-) you'll be just fine. USC last year admitted an average GPA of 3.5, same with UCSF, so anywhere around there you'll be great.

If you're planning to complete the BMS which you probably should, you don't need to be compelled to hammer the pre-requisite classes out extra fast, IMO. Just go with the flow and complete them, so long as you can apply to your schools of choice in the year you want to (i.e., you wouldn't want to miss the application cycle just because of poor planning). I guess if there's no harm in dropping them and you can get into all the PR classes, you might as well.
