"KCOM Class of 2007 Holds Student Elections

KIRKSVILLE, Mo. (September 23, 2003) - The Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine (KCOM), A.T. Still University (ATSU), Class of 2007 elected class officers and Student Government Association representatives last week.

Jonathan Easterwood of Lake St. Louis, Mo. will serve as class president. Cody Hawkes of Spanish Fork, Utah was elected vice president. Stephanie White of Lebanon, Mo. is the new class secretary and Joseph Brooks of St. Joseph, Mo. is treasurer. Class representatives are Dan Mann of Grand Haven, Mich., Ryan Roberts of Boise Idaho, Caleb Lee of Berrien Springs, Mich., Erin Ezzell of Yukon Okla., and Jessica Kumar of Ann Arbor, Mich. SGA executive officers at-large are Trent Price of Shelley, Idaho, and Jeremy Goins of Carl Junction, Mo.

The four class officers (president, vice president, secretary, and treasurer) represent their class to SGA, faculty, and administration. The class representatives and executive officers at-large serve as a part of SGA."

This is what I see - the list for class officers. Am I missing something?

To set the record straight, the admissions "team" is different than the admissions committee. The admissions team handles day to day communication with applicants, organizes interview days, screens applicants, etc. The admissions committee meets one a week (wednesday) and determines which applicants will be admitted for that week. The admissions committee is made up of D.O's and Ph.D's.

I was about to say. Thanks for clarifying that. Where you a KCOM student by any chance?

I just found this weird. None of these Adcoms have DO's or MD's and half of them don't even have a Masters let alone a PHD. Is it normal for Adcoms not to have a Medical degree? Haven't looked at other schools Adcom committee. Click meet the admissions team.

I don't know the commonality of this phenomenon, but also don't see how this is significant. Don't confuse admissions committees with administrative staff. It isn't necessary to have a medical degree to be an administrator or admissions counselor. I imagine that the administrative staff work with and advise on policy and procedures. While not insignificant work by any means, it certainly isn't work that would necessarily benefit from having a medical degree. On the other hand, an admissions committee (adcom), a committee that is charged with filling an incoming class, will consist of a variety of personnel. On some committees, you will have basic science professors, researchers, clinical staff, administrators, and medical students.

I know it was a stupid mistake on my part.😳 😛

Think of it from an economical standpoint. Would you rather pay someone who makes $100 an hour or someone who makes $10 an hour to do your administrative work?
