What not to do

Hilarious story. I don't get why they sent paramedics and not a cop to escort him to the hospital...he obviously wasn't in need of any urgent medical attention if he was still walking around pissing in hallways. Maybe the cops were busy with all the other drunk kids that night.

I don't know about F.U. (unfortunate initials for a school, eh?), but a neighboring Ivy treats drunkeness as a medical issue, not a criminal one, and in such a case it might seem appropriate to call emergency medical services rather than police. At schools where excess alcohol consumption is treated as a medical issue, it ends up in the medical record (confidential) and isn't an institutional action.

Ah got it I'm just used to the cops showing up for drunkeness related escapades

I think it would be the policy of most universities to call an ambulance and not the cops. Among the reasons I think this is that students would not be too happy to go to an undergrad where the cops get called to come in if they are drunk. At my university it was an ambulance to the hospital. If you got transported there were consequences with the university though.

Or the random newspaper article could be a sly attempt to throw us off the track.

Or she could have anticipated that we would initially think yale, then think it was just a ploy, thus ruling out Yale even though she ACTUALLY is from Yale! Of course, we should have seen this all along, how could we have been so blind!?

Think about it. LizzyM backwards is MyzziL, right? Now if we break this up we get "My Zzil' Zzil is an old english word meaning "from Zil". Now, George Zil is the original person who endowed Yale College back in 1823, and they almost called it Zil College. (Today there is a small statue of George Zil in the library.) So My Zil means My Yale College, so she must be from Yale! (Plus this article is from Connecticut) Interestingly, Zil's wife was named Elizabeth (nee Marushka) ....LizzyM!

Well played LizzyM, well played.

Boom!

Nice try LizzyM. Or should I say, Myzzil from Yale.

If she says her own name backwards, she disappears back into the dimensional vortex from which she came.

She knows that we know that she knows.
At least we know that she knows we know she knows.

I like your style. 😎

Nor would you want to be this guy.

Not that this guy looks like the type that would ever apply to medical school, but the story's just too good not to post.

Pre-med CNA/EMT ER techs beware...

Maybe he was just trying out a new form of OMM

Hmm yea it is a little weird that the police were not called if he was highly intoxicated and urinating in the hallways. On the other side, and as a former RA, if the safety or health of the resident is ever a concern then EMS would probably get a call first. Its possible that both police and EMS were there and the police let him go with EMS if they thought he needed medical help and if he wasn't initially combative. From my experience at my university police rarely come out for alcohol though and mostly only showed up for marijuana.

Just here to make a correction: UCONN's medical school is in Farmington, not Storrs. That's about 1 hour (but 35 miles) west of the main campus. Storrs is rural but Farmington, despite the picture, is an affluent suburb of Hartford.

My vote is Yale. She knows a little too much about Connecticut geography if you ask me 😉

And all this time I was guessing she's from Columbia 😛.

Not to mention all this talk about very specific policies at Yale, ahem, "a neighboring Ivy" and "I tend to click on random stories" on obscure Connecticut blogs pertaining to towns outside of New Haven. LOL, sounds perfectly random to me 😉

Ha ha ha.... my plan has worked. You all amuse me so much. I know Connecticut geography, and New York, too. And another state that will go unnamed.

Do keep in mind that any attempt to publicize my location is contrary to the terms of service and will get you tossed so knock it off.

The medic blocked the punch by covering his face with a laptop computer

I would have taken the blow. Laptops are expensive 🙁

Good God, you've really thought about this, haven't you?

Do me a favor - I just want to know how this sounds when you say it:

Myzzil

LOL, we don't need to publicize your location. You already did.

lol I think you give the vast majority of 18 year olds and undergrads too much credit.

bah, drunks. fun.

This isn't that unusual when you are in an ED...we get tons of drunks who want to pick a fight. I remember once I was putting some blankets over a fella who was shivering, and wanted something warm, and then he put a knee in my gut as I was putting the blanket over him...lol.

didn't press charges. 😛
