I've looked at E-bay and found what look like some nice massage/OMM tables for pretty reasonable prices, but they're brands I haven't heard anything about. Does anyone own any of these tables?

Coronado
Lifegear
Keiki
Master tables (the Hampton)

LECOM UAAO sells the stronglite brand, however if any of the above are decent it would be quite a savings. Thanks

Sorry Guys,

Save the $400, and practice at school.

Never known anyone to really use their own - except during the holiday season - when crackin' backs is a bit of a novelty.

what's the difference between omm table and a massage table. I just looked at an omm table online and it looks just like a massage table. So, if they are the same, why not just by a massage table for like 200 dollars on Ebay?

Why would we need a OMM table? To do something at home? On who, family? Do you really need the additional practice outside of lab class to be able to do great in your OMM classes?

Hey

I know that Sam's Club sells massage tables for less than 200.00. But I've been told that massage tables aren't hard enough for HVLA and you hand just sinks into the foam.

I got one of the massage tables. It does make HVLA more difficult because the foam is thicker and there is less support, but it works for everything else (and some of the HVLA). I will eventually replace mine with an osteopathic equipment one.

Amy, I work on my husband regularly. A friend of mine came to me regularly over the summer. My inlaws & parents also get worked on when they come over.

There isn't a week that goes by that I don't use my table...usually multiple times.

Also, if you want to get good at OMM, you'll definitely need to practice more than you do in class time. I work in our OMM lab for faculty/staff at school to get worked on (1 hr/week) and I also work on classmates and MS1s when they ask. The extra practice definitely makes a difference.

Navy HPSP paid for $400 of it . . . Go Navy!

That $400 is going to seem a lot less impressive when you are told to report to duty in the Persian Gulf.

Oh well - I just consolidated my loans. Not fun either.

So I guess this wouldnt be a bad place to ask who is plannin on going to convocation in colorado?
anyone?
any OMM heads besides me?

That $400 might not (seem impressive), but the >$100,000 in student loans I WON'T have sure is. (Not to mention the monthly stipend, free books & equip, etc.)

Plus, I'd be honored to serve in the Gulf again, just as I was during the first Gulf War when I served as a 60-gunner with a Marine Corps Combat Engineer platoon.

Anyway, for me the Navy was a win-win situation. I love the military (and have missed it dearly since I've been out) and I love NOT going into debt 😉

Stronglite classic table w/ OMT padding. Special thru school, ~$380 including shipping. You'll use it!

NSU's UAAO Chapter sold the Battle Creek (Model 41/42) table last year and I've been really happy with it. I am BIG and hearty and the table works great. It doesn't feel weak or flimsy, even when I'm cracking other BIG and hearty people. Adjustable height, folds up thin, face hole, and just the right amount of pad. It wasn't too bad price wise either < $300.

I was not impressed with the Costco/Sam's tables; too much pad. I had a hard time bringing the foam to the barrier.

bringing the foam to the barrier sounds like some weird metaphor or strange double talk for something perverted.

When you say hearty, what exactly is hearty...300+???

I have a big friend starting school at pcom next year. He was thinking that it's going to be hard for a smaller person to work on him. He's 6'6 and 400.

I have a Golden Ratio OPP Table. It's awesome. Lifetime, Transferable Warranty and 360 degree access to the patient because of the strut design. I use it in my home office right now until I can build a non portable one. Then I'll just use it for travel and what not. Our UAAO sells them for pretty cheap so if you want one, just shoot me an email and we'll talk! See ya!

I'll second (third) the opinion about osteopathic equipment tables. They're the best.

Hey Heeed and BagOfDoughuts,

Do you have any idea of the WEIGHT of your tables? I REALLY like the one from OsteopathicEquipment.com, but they won't tell me how much it weighs. Bag---do you have the metal table? I think that was too heavy for me.

Heeed...I will ask you more about your table in class. I'm not sure if I know BagOfDoughnuts 😕

I think the 27" Osteopathic Equipment Table weighs about 30lbs so the 30 will be a little more than that and the 25 will be a little less. They weight a little more than most portable tables because they use really thick plywood for the top which rocks my world. lol

Hey guys and gals,

This may sound cheesy, but I bought a table on walgreens.com. It was $199. It has a 2 inch thick foam padding and comes with a head rest. I did a lot of research and most "OMM" specific tables have an 1.25 inch thick padding. This table is nice. The same design as the tables the other students are getting here at CCOM for twice the price. I've done a ton of HVLA without a problem.
