I am currently a senior and I plan on taking at a year off after I graduate in the spring 2008. I have a respectable GPA, at around 3.5 for both general and science. I have not yet taken the MCAT, but I plan on taking it this spring/early summer. I have a fairly well rounded profile right now. I have research experience in neurobiology and neurocognitive psychology. I have clinical experience working as an EMT:B for many months and shadowing on numerous occasions.
I am exploring my options for the off year. Things that I am considering include Lab Tech, EMT, Clinical Tech, ER Tech, or a postbacc program. The goal of my off year is to make myself a stronger applicant. I am giving serious consideration to a postbacc program because of my previous experience in the lab and clinical settings.
My question is, if I choose to do a postbacc, what programs/school do you think would fit me? I don't really need the GPA boost (although it wouldn't hurt), but I would definitely work my hardest in a postbacc program to get good grades. Would my other options better suit me for acceptance? Does anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks all.
