ok well i am going to go to my CC to sign up for pre pharm classes for the fall term coming up this year. i have not started any pre pharm classes yet. i would like to apply to Pitt and a few other though just in case. every schools pre pharm requirments seam to be diffrent. what should i take? some schools like temple needs 2 years calc but most dont seam to where some dont require phyics like Pitt but many do. any help would be great. as far as i know it would be a good idea to take
8 chem
8 bio
8 o chem
4 calc
4 stats
6 english
3 econ
3 psych
6 humans
6 SS
6 other electives

this is for Pitt. but it does not include phyics or anatomy.

If you haven't taken any classes yet, I'd go with:
General Chemistry 1 - 4-5 credits with lab
General Biology 1 - 4-5 credits with lab
English 1 - 3 credits
Calculus - 4-5 credits
Humanities - 3 credits

at some community colleges labs are worth 2 credits, although when you transfer to a 4 year university they count as 1 credit courses. It's up to your preference what courses you should take, but I think Gen Chem 1 and Gen Bio 1 are musts.

You should also check that the colleges you apply to are OK with all your pre-pharm being done at CC. I've noticed some say CC is not preferred.

Here is a general format for your two year of prereqs. Maybe this isn't what you were asking for...but oh well. Here you go:

yr 1 fall ..................... yr 2 fall

bio 1 w/lab .................. organic w/lab
gen chem w/lab............. a&p 1 w/lab
calc 1 ......................... stats
eng 1 .......................... humans (yum)

yr 1 spring................... yr 2 spring

bio 2 w/lab ................... organic 2 w/lab
gen chem 2 w/lab .......... a&p 2 w/lab
physics w/lab ................ humans
eng 2 ........................... econ

You can throw in your other requirements where it works out best for you. You can always take a few over the summers. The order for the science classes is pretty standard. I would also recommend taking calc before physics or at the same time if you can handle the work load. Most likely you will need a&p (or just one course in anatomy), so I threw that in there. With this schedule you will have a easier course load when you take organic....which will be good because many people struggle with that class.
