Hi everyone,

This may be a tough one because it seems like no school gives a definitive answer on this one but...

I wanted to make sure I wasn't missing applying to any schools that like high RC scores to balance my borderline TS.

In a nutshell(I'm nontrad student with 3 kids, a degree in Japanese and just recently finished normal prereq sciences with Biochem and Cell Bio to supplement. cumgpa 3.39 recent science is higher 3.6ish)

TS 18 AA 19 PAT 21 RC 25

However, some of schools have minimum cut-off scores.
ex) UCSF, Case(??), Detroit?, many...

One the other hand, some of schools just say they want high level in verbal......
ex) Harvard, UCLA, etc.

As Harvard is one of the top institute in the states, I guess they want RC scores like urs. (Ur RC score is actually superior!!)

WOW~ 25!! AMAZING! I wish I could have had ur reading score!! 😡

Hey we have almost the same stats (I have TS19, AA21, PAT 21 and RC 25 too) and I'm getting interviews even with my very borderline GPA. Pacific and Buffalo are two school I didn't really expect to hear much back from but i have interviews there so I would say those two probably value a high RC. I also heard back from Case but nothing from NYU yet.

While this isnt representative of the entire school, one of my interviewers at Case told me that he valued the RC portion ALOT compared to the others when considering applicants...

I hardly ever post on this site, but after this post I feel compelled to.

We must be twins, because I have a degree in East Asian Studies (with a Japanese concentration), and my DAT scores were TS 18, PAT 21, AA 19, and a RC score of 25!!!!!!!!!!!

So if you want to improve your RC score, just learn Japanese?

BTW onamae ga ski desu.

I was told in each interview I had that RC was probably the most important section of the DAT. They probably feel this way because there is a small correlation with RC scores and overall performance in dental school (i.e. board scores).

Fortunately I had a great RC score, so I was happy to learn that! With a 25, you are sitting pretty high above most other applicants.

tctem1, one word for you.

????
(just wanted to see if it would work on here) chou fushigi if it doesn't

You have to keep me posted on your progress.
If you don't mind me asking what school did you go to?

Suggesting that the high RC got you in ds is no different than suggesting that the low QR kept you out. The 21 AA and TS certainly didn't hurt.

I'm hoping this is the case.
