What should be put under Academic Enrichment Program?

Hello everyone. I have researched this forum to get a solid answer for what consititutes Academic Enrichment Program, but I am still confused about it.


AADSAS says that it would include "special research experiences," and I wonder what this exactly means. I have few research experiences so far, and I attended for three-day annual meeting/conference that presented the poster of one of the researches that I worked for. I was a co-author of the poster and paper, but did pretty much nothing during the conference (just merely attending).


Would this be considered as a "special research experiences" that I can write down under this section?

I would think that goes with things you list under the research section. Alot of people present their research posters.That's not really an academic enrichment program. You don't have to put stuff under every section. Quality matters, not quantity.

Study abroad, predental or premed summer programs, things like that. An actual structured program.

So, I did this thing called the Explore Program, where I received a bursary that paid for my tuition (6 credits), living and food at a University in the French part of Canada. There, as part of the program we took classes, and had coordinators that made took us on educational tours of the area and its history. We were also prohibited from speaking any language other than French the entire time (24/7).

I also did something afterwards called the Langue et Travaille Programme, where I was provided a 3 week work contract by the Government. we would be working in a French environment, to excel our practical use of French.

Also, I did a study tour with my University. It was a 3 credit class, where we went abroad and studied and did assignments and an exam about the places we were visiting.

Would any of these fit into this category?

I would think the first two would fit, not sure about the third one. I would just put it under the section. If it sounds like it could fit under the description AADSAS gives, then there's nothing wrong with putting it there. No one is going to throw out your app as long as everything's reasonable and can be explained at an interview.

I wouldn't double dip and put the same thing under two sections though. Some people do that. I don't really believe in it.

I had something in grade 7-9 where they held a summer program for academically motivated kids at a huge private school. I'm I able to put that or no because it wasn't during university/college.
