Hey everyone,

I'm currently a junior and applying to med school (MD and DO) for this cycle and was wondering what I should be doing right now to get ready for the process? The advisement offices at my school are currently not active as they are undergoing some administrative issues, so I need some serious advisement.

I have been asking around for LOR, and I have been making a list of all of the ECs to prepare. I currently have confirmed letters from my PI that I do research for, my Organic I and II professor that I've been working as a VTA for the last 3 semesters, and an Orthopedic surgeon that I've been shadowing since my sophomore year in HS (yes, THAT long lol).

Is there anything else I could be doing to prepare? How many letters do I need and from what types of people?

P.s. I currently have 3.92 GPA (3.90 sGPA) and got a 27 on my MCAT (retaking in March -- currently averaging 30s now on my AAMC's after better studying and tutoring...and I'm only 1/2 way through info)...so I'm shooting for a 30+ on my retake. Any suggestions on which schools I should apply to? I'm a FL resident.

THANK YOU SO MUCH EVERYONE! 🙂

A letter from a non-science professor and maybe a supervisor from a job if you've worked a while will help.

PERSONAL STATEMENT!! The earlier you start it, the more input you can have. Good luck on your retake!

If you did any clinical or non-clinical volunteering, a letter from the supervisor would be helpful as well.
