After shadowing a few healthcare fields, I felt most comfortable with dental. After some research, I'm still a bit confused as to how I should go about applying.

Some background..
I'm currently a biology major with a 3.8 GPA, no W's. This semester has been tough, but im determined to finish with A's.

I have not taken the DAT & won't have time to confidently take it until August.

Haven't even thought about my personal statement.

I've shadowed for about 25 hours at a general practitioner, I plan on continuing until I reach 100.

Active in the biology/healthcare/chemistry club for just 2 semesters. No leadership.

I volunteer sporadically with several different organizations. I haven't really kept a log, it's just something I do here and there. Should I commit to a certain organization and rack up volunteer hours?

Should I bother applying this cycle? I won't have the DAT complete until August and I've heard that's late, but it's my only option. My EC's suck compared to what I've read here, do I have time to bring them up?

The past few weeks I've been concentrating on my upper level classes and my GPA, should I simultaneously be preparing something for my application?

Just a little lost, anyone care to chime in and drop some insight?
