Hello people. I really love this community. This is my first post. Okay I wanna attend pharmacy school in 2010 ( UF,Lecom, Nova, F&M )- whichever I get. Right now I am doing my pre requisites and taking Chem1, A&P1 and BIO2. I am gonna take Calc 1 and Chem 2 in summer. I wanna take PCAT before taking Organic Chem becoz I have done my high schooling from India where I had taken all the science core courses. I am taking them again coz the credits didnt get transfered.

Well this is my plan.

Current term (spring):
Chem1
Bio 2
A&P 1

Summer 2009
Chem2
Calc 1 ( may take it in fall)

Fall 2009
Org 1
A&P 2
and mabye Physics 1.

Also tell me when should i start applying to the schools ( UF, Nova and Lecom). I am planning to attend Pharmacy school in 2010.

Do you need to have PCAT for the application. Coz i have seen ppl here who are giving theri Pcat after being interviewed. Confused?😕

I wanna give my PCAT in August 2009.So if i get a low score I could give it once again in October. So my question is that am I good applying by the end of 2009. Coz I have heard that many pharmacy schools let you finish your courses before matriculation, which would be fall of 2010. And I will have a lot of time till then.

You definitely need your pcat scores. Those people that you are talking about might be taking it for the second time. If you are comfortable that those science courses that you took in India can help you succeed, try the PCAT. I have a friend who was in similar situation. He took the PCAT and hit a 92. If you know how to name organic compound and you are proficient in writing mechanisms, you are ok as long as you are comfortable with general chemistry. As for the bio part, I cant offer a good advice. Math section--develop speed. If you are given all the time in the world, you will probably solve the whole problem.

Your timeline is good. August ... October. I took pcat in august. Completed pharmcas in october...all required documents in.

All these advice is based on the fact that you have some science background. By the way, simply taking the prerequisites would not necessarily make you competitive. Try courses like immunology, Genetic Analysis, Adv Org Chem, etc. Classes that make you look smart.😎

Finally, extracurricullar activities is very important. Don't be suprised if the dude that was president of all the clubs in your school gets in with a 3.1 gpa despite the fact that your own is the untouchable 4.0 giant pulsing artery.

Thanks Luwical . This is really helping me. For the extra curricular part. Is it very important. I will hopefully get a job very soon as a labtech (person who sets up labs). Will that be good for my application.
