So i bombed my first year of uni, transferred and redid my calc bio and chem classes and got b+'s and b's. i am now taking organic chem, genetics, and geology this semester. I am a canadian uni student and am thinking of applying to U.S pharmacy schools later on since they have soo many schools, and there is very few here in canada. Do you think i have a chance or should i focus on a different career? i have been getting better grades than before and can get a good letter of recomendation from a pharmacist. would i be considered an international student if i apply to u.s schools. what should i do now to pursue a career in pharmacy, i feel like a lost cause 🙁 , i wish i had someone to tell me what to do from the start. What schools would i have the best chance at? should i upgrade more? get experience? what if in the end i don't get in.

Money is no object

Here is my transcript

Look, the truth is a lot of students don't do so well their first year of college it's a new environment, and whole lot more work than high school. I would say you should stick with the path your on, if Pharmacy is something your really passionate about it's more than worth it to keep going and give it a shot. Look into getting a job in a pharmacy or shadowing a pharmacist as you continue your pre-pharmacy course work, this will look good on your resume and application and make you stand out for sure. When it comes time to apply to pharmacy school look for schools that offer "academic forgiveness" these schools either don't participate in pharmacas at all or use pharmcas, and also do a GPA calculation themselves, where they instead of averaging the two grades you've recieved in classes you have retaken, they just use the higher of the two grades you've recieved to calculate your GPA. I also feel like when you don't do so well at first but then try again and really succeed and do much better this shows perseverence which is something you could play up in your personal essay when it comes time to write that. I would in no way give up on this if it something you are passionate about and you feel like you can improve on your grades and excel in your pre-reqs just keep trying!

I did worse than you. My GPA was 1.67 in the first 2-3 years. Your passion is a great motivation to keep you walking & out of whatever challenges you are facing. You know pretty well what you need to do now, so have faith in yourself and do it the way you dream of doing. Keep up the GPA, get some pharmacy experience, community service.
