Hi! Figured on here would be a good place to ask since people on here probably have experience with this type of thing (my friends are saying I shouldn't contact him again but my mom says I should but none of them have experience with this stuff haha)
So I volunteered at a farm animal sanctuary this summer and really liked it. I wanted to see if I'd be able to volunteer at another one when I got back to school so I looked up some more on the Internet and found one relatively close to my school that is affiliated with a really big animal shelter in the state and the same guy founded both of them. So I emailed asking if they accept volunteers at the sanctuary as it didn't immediately say on the website and there was no place to apply to volunteer at the sanctuary, just the shelter. The founder of the sanctuary emailed me back saying they didn't usually take volunteers since most people didn't have experience, but he would love for me to come and that it would be fine for me to just volunteer on the weekends. He left his personal phone number in the email and said to call him and we can discuss it further. I couldn't call for a couple days because of time zones and working super late but when I had time to call him at an appropriate hour I did, he didn't pick up, and I left a message with my name and phone number. He didn't call back so I tried again a week later, he didn't answer, I left a message and now it's been over a week since then.
So my question is: should I email the shelter again asking or do you think I should just give up? I'm worried that for whatever reason he's changed his mind or has personal issues going on or something and that I'd just be hounding him, but I'm not sure since he seemed so enthusiastic in his initial response to me so I'm also concerned that for whatever reason he hasn't gotten the voicemails I left. If I wasn't going to be ever see him or have anything to do with him I'd just email but I want to volunteer at the shelter next semester as well so I don't want to start off in the wrong foot by being super annoying and hounding him/the people at the shelter since they're the ones who do the emails for the farm.
Basically at what point do you stop contacting someone about something and should I give another week before trying again or do it now (it's been a week since I last tried)
Also just to add in: I'm not super desperate to do this for hours or anything since I do have other volunteer activities I do, but I'd rather do this than one of them just since I loved my work at the sanctuary this summer so much but do need to know from this guy otherwise I will commit to other things
