I just graduated from a community college in May 2004, and I went to a senior university this fall; however, I hated the school. The school just seemed shady to me. First thing that made me really mad was the fact that I had two academic scholarships from them. One paid all of my tuition for the next two years, and the other scholarship was a leadership scholarship that would cover most of my room and board. I also received a lot of financial aid. I received one from the government and one from the state. I also get money for going to school because my dad is a 100% disabled veteran. Once the school found out about all my aid, they took away all of my academic scholarships, which really made me mad. They never sent me notification or anything, and I was the one who called them to ask why it wasn't showing up in the computer system. I understand that I had a lot of aid, but the scholarships were an incentive for me to go to that school. If it wasn't for those scholarships, I wouldn't have went because the rest of the money I got to cover my expenses could have been used at any other school in my state, plus I also received scholarships that I turned down at other schools. Even though this really upset me, I decided to go anyways because I had friends there and the people there seemed nice. Once I got there, I couldn't stand it. The rooms were disgusting, I found a roach in my cup after I took a sip from it, but I still decided to give it a try. The professors were nice, and I thought I would really like it only because of the nice people; however, I came back from class to being harassed that I owed $2000 (which I didn't) and told if I didn't take care of this, I would have to move out of the dorms in two days. I decided that was it and decided to leave (before a week even went by). Now, I'm just taking a semester off, and I plan to go to a college that is closer to my home for the spring semester. Of course, I will have to pay most of it myself, but I rather pay for this school than take a free offer from the school I went to. Sorry for the rant, but here is my biggest concern. This would have been my junior year, and I was supposed to take the MCAT this April. Now, I won't be ready for the MCAT this April and will have to take it in August. My question is should I still apply for entrance into the Fall 2006 class with August MCAT scores or should I just wait and apply for Fall 2007 class? Sorry if this is long, you can see how upset I am about this whole ordeal.

first of all dont be too upset about this mess of yours. there are way more people who encounter bumps in the road than not. even people who've already been accepted to med school find that they cant go for one reason or another. ive found that the general consensus is that the august mcat is ok when youre applying in the same year. just make sure that everything is ready to go. i think you can turn in your amcas before your scores come out. make sure that your letters of rec are in or already written. for schools that send out automatic secondaries, fill them out. you can even submit the letters and secondaries at some schools before your scores come out. it isnt too bad. you just have to be ready with everything.
