Hey everyone, Im new here to SDN, but Ive been a lurker for quite some time and finally decided to join. Let me first say a little about myself. I am currently a junior at SUNY Stony Brook majoring in health science and have every ambition to become a DO. Ill have a bunch of questions for everyone so hopefully Ill get some advice and maybe give some if I know.
My first dilema is this:
I didnt really know what I wanted to do when I entered college. I didnt take any science classes until my soph. year, which really screwed me up. Last semester I took General Chem I and got a B- in it. This semester Im taking General Chem II and taking one of the BIO classes with the lab. Im due to graduate and have a bachleors May '09. Here is where my problem(s) start.
Before I graduate, Ill have these classes finished:
General Chem I + II with labs
General Bio I and II with labs
Physics I with lab
Im missing Organic chem and Physics II with the lab. I cant take any of these classes my senior year because I am going to be taking my health science classes. (Basically your scedule is made for you Sr. year) So I cant take Orgo and physics II.
I was thinking about taking the classes at a community college near my house. I know medical schools frown upon classes taken at a CC, especially since Im at a 4 year school. But, I dont want to waste a whole extra year for me to graduate just so I can take orgo and physics. (Not to mention all the money that it is going to cost me to live out at school just to take those 3 classes.)
I know Im still very far behind, and havent even taken the MCATs, but Im determined to do well on them and become a physician. I have my life sorted out and I know what I want to do with myself, but Im hating myself for starting so late.
So what should I do about orgo and physics?
