dress nice, but not a suit. i have never seen a person in a suit get the job. professional, but low key.

if you are female, a nice looking shirt or sweater and a skirt or nice, professional looking pants.

if you are a guy, probably chinos, nice looking corduroys, or other nice pants and a dress shirt would be good.

good luck. teaching for kaplan is fun.

I wore a skirt and jacket, sort of on the formal side. But the skirt showed a lot of leg. That might not work for you, though. 🙂

Dress casual is a good way to go.

I wore khakis, polo shirt, and a kinda nice sweater (it was snowing like the bejeezus).

Got the job too. 🙂 Good luck.

To people who have been through Kaplan/TPR auditions for teaching there, before, please tell what one should wear to the audition.

Thanks.

Does anyone know the kind of MCAT score needed to audition for a Kaplan teaching position?

In the 90+ percentile, usually. If you didn't do that well overall, but you scored highly in one section, they can hire you to teach that section.

i would teach for kaplan, but unfortunately i have no idea how i got my MCAT score. I'm petrified by the thought of standing up there and being bombarded with questions about some esoteric organic reaction that I know nothing about. I think I'll look for a SAT job 😀

Here is the equation they use. They rate you on a hotness scale 1-10. Then 40-(hotness scaled score)=required MCAT score.

YOu mean there is no chance for someone with 29 in MCAT even if the person is super duper ultra extra hot?

All you have to do is learn one simple phrase: "You don't need to know that for the test." 🙂

i am one of the people that judges auditions at my local kaplan center. We ask for business casual dress. However, we have accepted people who auditioned in a t-shirt and shorts. We will notice if you look sloppy, but it's not going to keep you from getting hired if you're good enough.

Anybody know what Kaplan pays? Do you need 10s? 11s? 12s?

I interviewed for Kaplan (wear business casual), started the training but then pulled out because I could not keep up with it with my summer job, and also because I did not like their teaching style.

But good luck! I think everyone makes it through the audition.

Do you guys honestly think that wearing a suit and tie hurts your chances of getting a job? Obviously if you get the job you're not going to wear that when you work, but in a job interview you want to look as professional as possible. I would bet that those folks interviewing in the suits didn't get the job for another reason (below par mcat scores, or maybe just too ugly. 😀 ) I have inteviewed for lifeguarding jobs, restaurant work, academic positions and almost always gotten hired (except when I was totally unqualified), and it might just be my imagination, but when I'm sitting in a suit and tie and 4 other people are waiting to be interviewed too in tshirts, jeans, sneakers, and the interviewer calls my name and I stand up, they always look eager and pleased and they look like they're looking forward to my interview. But maybe they're just smiling b/c my hot rating is through the roof, baby!! 😀 😀 😀 😀
