What steps should I take to become faster at the science sections?

Right now, I can get just about everything right in the science sections of MCAT, physical and biological with extra time (that I don't have). I'm just slow.

So, my sense is that practice will make me faster. Any other tips?

Don't double check answers....once you select an answer, move the eff on!

aim for a minute per question, and if something looks time consuming, guess, mark it, and move on. after, redo the marked ones, then go back and check your work from the beginning. if you're proficient you should be able to get through an exam twice. aim for speed here, so you can leisurely check your work after.

Okay, 1 minute max per question, science passages as quickly as possible, finish, and then return to marked questions for 1 minute max each.

I can tell you what helped for me, though I suspect it may go against "SDN wisdom"... I dunno as I haven't really checked it out:

I do the questions in a vague order of takes least time to takes most time. I usually do all the discretes first because they are (usually) very fast and do all the passage questions afterward. If in doing passage questions, I come across a question that is going to take a lot of time to do (i.e. a long calculation), I use the "mark" button and do it at the very end.

Every question is worth the same 1 point in raw score, and I don't want to miss the chance to answer any quick/freebie questions because I spent 3 minutes computing the theoretical yield of a reaction to 2 sig figs without a calculator... 🙁

Use the POE , and if a Q is hard, then it is hard for most people, so pick an answer and move on. You need to finish

There are a lot of freebies in the passages, and sometimes the discretes can take a while as well. I just rush through it in order.
