What Stethoscope to get?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Consensus if i remember from past threads is to wait until your school tells you what to get. They may require you to get a certain one, recommend a certain one or even give you one (I believe PCOM does)

This kit is old, but the old folks still swear by it:

Yep we got cardio 3s. You get stuck with whatever color they give you but whatever you can always replace the tubing if you have an issue

That stethoscope was pretty good, probably the same sound quality as the one my ambulance company issues.

The BP cuff was the first to break, iirc. Otherwise, solid instruments all around.

Welch Allyn Harvey Elite

From someone with a cardio III. Avoid the tuneable diaphragms if you can. You will be fine with any listed really, but the Harvey Elite is reallllllly nice.

LECOM Erie and Seton Hill students get free Cardiology III scopes too (POMA gives them to us along with our white coats.) So far I really like it. Can't really tell much of a difference when compared to my cheaper Master Classic II that I used for EMT the last few years, but oh well.

I had a master cardio in school. I personally have come to disdain scopes that do not have a bell on them and as a result I switched to a Littman III for residency. Stay away from the electronic scopes they won't let you use them on the PE or the OSCE crap you have to take during your preclinical years.
