Hello everyone,

I have about a month to study for the OAT and I wanted to know what you found most effective to study from. I have the big Kaplan book and I feel like it's kinda vague in the sense that it kinda just touches on a lot of topics but doesn't go into enough detail. Maybe that is how the OAT actually is but I wouldn't know since I haven't taken it yet.

I also have the OAT destroyer which seems like it's going to be best to study from. Have any of you taken the OAT, did well and only used the OAT destroyer to study from. Since I only have a month to study I want to know if I should get other study material or if I should focus all my time on doing all these questions in the destroyer repeatedly.

Thanks in advance!

What i would recommend with the material you have already is go through the destroyer for a good 2 weeks. After that get a computerized OAT mock exam program, either Achiever or Topscore. I used Achiever. Each of them have 3 full mock OATs. Take the first mock the first day, second day review the solutions, third day study up on your 2 lowest sections, then rinse and repeat for the next 2 mocks and you should be able to get 340+.

I used my friend's Kaplan books (the big one, class notes and book of sample tests) along with OAT achiever to study for the exam.

OAT achiever gives you a good feel of how the test is going to be, but the questions are much harder than the actual exam. Don't get discouraged if you don't score too well on it. It is good practice however.

The Kaplan stuff was the most helpful, especially the book of sample tests. I skimmed over the big book, read my friend's notes for the class book, and then took the sample tests. Be sure to read the explanations for the answers to reinforce your learning, even if you get the answer right.

make sure to do the opted practice exam...it's really close to what score you'll expect. I got the same overall score, but kaplan was good in that the questions were TOO hard, so doing the actual test felt easy.

Study your class notes. Get a kaplan big book if you want. But don't think EVERYTHING is in the kaplan big book, it's not! Well, I know first hand that's the case for bio. In hindsight, I'd study more my bio class notes and textbook. Physics, gen chem, and ochem are good for the kaplan book.
