Hey guys,

Where in the "bleep" can I find research supervisors. I don't mind cold e-mailing profs/clinicians/researchers... I just want to do a full year research project. A stipend would be nice.

Anyone, anywhere, please!

How did it work out cold calling PI's in the fields in which you're interested? If you haven't, not sure what to tell you. Where have MS at your program done work in the past?

Not super great. They mainly say that outside students come in as volunteers or come with their own stipend... Most MS at my program do a one year master's program in basic science. Not something I'm interested in.

So do it as a volunteer. Pick someone who is truly prolific in pumping out research and has good history with medical students.

if you think a few grand in living expenses is make or break you're deluded. find a place with an awesome mentor where you'll be productive and that "volunteer" year will more than pay for itself.

Yeah, agree with the other guy. Taking out an extra bit in loans to cover expenses is worth it to match into the residency you want.
