So, I've followed the oh-so famous advice, "Take two days to prepare and you'll be fine," but now, on the eve of my exam, I am thinking to myself, "what the hell was I thinking?!?!"

Its very possible that I am going to get raped tomorrow. Just signed up for usmleworld on Friday, and 1. I am not doing so well, and 2. Am way overwhelmed!

I'll let you all know how it goes, but given the way I feel right now, I'd definitely advise putting in a bit of real study time before this!

My advice would be focus on your strengths. If you are good in IM then really hit that hard tonight so that you get all of the IM questions. I thought I failed after the first day. The only thing that helped was treat the exam like you were really treating the patient. Pick an answer then move on. If you can get some rest do that but I always hated that advice as I was always up with test anxiety. SO I used the anxiety to help me study/cram the night before.

You will have blocks that you feel you got no question right whatsoever, just push on. GOOD LUCK!

I don't know if you saw my post in another thread, but I felt EXACTLY the same way. I bought my study aids on Friday, took the test Mon/Tues, and felt like I needed another 5 years to study. Worse yet, I have been out of medicine since March (8 months!) so couldn't lean on my internship knowledge.

Just be prepared to feel extremely frustrated, because the questions are ridiculous. They don't give enough info, give bad choices, show poor quality pictures, and expect you to have done 8 residencies to know the answers. Okay, maybe I wouldn't have felt that way if I had studied more, but from what I gather, many people feel that way after the test. Either that, or I bombed the test and everyone is trying to make me feel better 😱

Keep your head high, and best of luck tomorrow!
:luck:

I just got my scores back and that thing was TOUGH!

I did great on step 1 and 2 but only good on step 3.

One thing that was really useful was this CD i bought off one of my co-residencts. I used that plus crush and UW website for step 3.

THe CD WAS AWESOME! It had tons of recalls from like 4 generations of medical school classes that had taken step 3.

Good luck
