What time do you get up in the morning?

I get up at 7 o'clock because I'm going for a long time, I need to have breakfast and freshen up

Great thread. Inspired me to try out a new schedule to increase my productivity and still have time to get swoll. First day getting up at 5am!

I hit the gym and get up at 420 on the days I work and about 6 the days I don't. I think though, it's easiest to just have the same schedule every day. I will enter dental school in the fall and plan to get up early enough to exercise every day. It's the only way to do it imo. Really helps to start the day with the right mindset.

All depends on what I have to do that day. During weekdays I have class so I will wake up at 8 am normally. But on weekends if I am not working I will sleep until 11 or 12. Probably due to staying up until 12:30 or 1:00 am most nights. I do not believe the whole morning people are more successful thing; it all depends on how you spend your time, not when.

Some people have different circadian rhythms.

Gene CRY1 variant alters circadian clock contributing to delayed sleep phase disorder, study finds

I usually go to sleep around 12 and wake up at 6 or 7 am.

"CRY1" my life tbh
Usually sleep at 2-3 and wake up at 9, not sure how you people get by on five hours
For those early risers, how do you make sure you finish your work in that two hour time period before class? I make myself a late sleeper so I can sacrifice sleep if I need to catch up on exams, but I can't do that as an early riser. Any thoughts?

Usually I don't finish work in that time period before class. I use that time to get a start on material covered in the class ahead, so that things make more sense once I listen to the lecture. That way if I can't get through all of the material, it won't be that big of deal.

In college, I got up at about 11 on average, witch is unfortunate because I had classes at 8:30, 9:30, and 10:30 most semesters. I'm not a note taker, so I would just catch up with the lecture notes around test time and be good.

Out of school for a few months and I weirdly wake up at around 7-9, I don't have work early in the morning or anything, I just still naturally wake up that early. It's pretty weird
Same here with me. I missed so much class in college because they were in the morning lol but now that I'm done and I'm living back home I tend to wake up before 9, don't know what's going on.

any dental students here wake up an hour or 2 before class to read up on the day's lecture or do light review? I found that helped in undergrad but dunno if it's worth since d school classes start at like 8 am

You guys are next level. All through undergrad I scheduled my classes to have them start by noon. I'm more of a night owl, usually up till 2-3am. This past year I had to get up at 7 am for work, so I can do it, I just don't like it lmao

I tend to sleep at around 12-2 pm (varies) and wake up at 8-9 am or so depending on when my first class is. I tend to never skip a lecture (even in classes that don't require attendance or have a recording)...

Sophomore-junior year I'd do 7AM to 12AM days full of productivity. Nonstop classes, research, studying, but that was on bucketloads of coffee. I'm a couple of weeks into quitting caffeine before dental school starts and it's resulted in a weird schedule. I sleep at 12AM, get up at 10AM, crash 2~5PM. 13 hours and I still can't hang. Don't even recognize my body anymore.

Out of curiosity, does taking a month or two long break off of caffeine reduce your tolerance back to what it originally was? I try to stray from caffeine as much as I can until I really need it but it's killing me right now

That's the reason why I tend to avoid caffeine outright... But recently I have been drinking it a bit more. But still no more than two cups a week.

It should. Good luck to us both.

Yep I used to drink it on occasion when I had a late night for an exam but now I just avoid it completely and just drink decaf (because I still love the flavor of coffee)

When I was in school, I would get up at around 6:50 AM on weekdays for class, and around 8AM on weekends - D1 and D2. When I was a D3 onward, I got up at 7:50AM every day (clinic was at 9).
