what time for registration?

Do you guys think it will be obvious when the site is up and working (i.e. it will say "now open" vs. "will be open")? i have a feeling it'll just start to work and all of us who have been sitting here for hours will be screwed. my luck at least!

haha, seriously! fantastic job with all those updates they did to avoid computer glitches :meanie: . i'd throw my hat in for a bet, but honestly i'm starting question whether it will even actually open up at all today (and after the $210 bucks i have to throw down for this test, i can't afford to lose any more money, lol!)

Do you know how to find out how many testing sites are available and being able to see where they are, without actually logging into the registration page? If my area has quite a few, I may just come back later.

check out the 2008 mcat essentials thing on the aamc website. it has a link in it to all the testing sites (i don't remember what page exactly at the moment, sorry)

I asked her if it wouldn't be logical to just shut down the site and open another day so that we can all get back to what we need to do and she responded "yes but they want to fix it now"....really helpful...I must say

stupid people it is a control thing really, gives them some type of sick high knowing that thousands of pre-meds are sitting here glaring at their computer screens just waiting.

I can just imagine the mcat people sitting back getting a good laugh at us all. I'm just worried if I don't stay and stare at this stupid bar, I'll lose my spot and my medical career will be destroyed

***update: AAMC's lead technician is now taking a nap after having one too many donuts. All 2 of their receptionists drank all the coffee and didn't know how to make some more 🙄

this is what i'm worried about too. it's bad enough to be sitting here for hours, but if all the sudden the thing opens up and we're just kept on hold because we've been waiting since before the glitch was fixed, i'm going to be so mad!!!

who would have thought... the hardest decision i have had to make this month... can i sacrifice getting up to go to the bathroom? lol... the things we will do to be physicians. sigh.

I've got to go to a physics lab- 3 hours of time- you all can pee and shower all you want and I'll be stuck with out an mcat seat playing with centripedial acceleration of something

Hey I just got a seat. I went to the wait page at about 8:30 am and I just got my seat! The only disturbing thing was that after I was confirmed and printed my confirmation I wanted to read something about the score releases and when I clicked it I was brought back to the waiting page. I printed the confirmation but I am still worried about this.

did the "reserve seat" screen take a while? with the little box that says "reserving seat. Please wait..." ?

also, the title of the screen changes from "MCAT Registration System" to MCAT CBT

I logged in and updated all my personal info and then when I hit next, it took me back to the same carppy page of "wait your turn".

I've been on that page since 8 am this morning.....stupid AAMC, seriously, they treat us like crap.

I have been able to log in but can't seem to see any Exam Dates to select!


edit: just got the two jan dates and i am registered. Yay gl to the rest, and don't give up

oh man didn't they do a trial run with this thing before today?!?
what would be the point of people getting the right accounts if they can't register properly and free up the space for those waiting in line?
they should've closed it down and worked out the glitch and when everything was smooth, open it up.

I was waiting for maybe 20 minutes... Mine also did the "waiting" screen after I tried to click on score release... Don't worry!!! I then got an e-mail confirmation, so everything went through! Almost there guys!

Yes, they tried which donut goes best with coffee: sprinkles, glazed, plain, or keyboard.

my thoughts exactly fruits&passions! everytime the freaking page does its little refresh thing and it comes up the same my heart sinks a little, lol. i guess we're getting a very small test of what the horrible waiting game is going to be like next year when we apply.

20 mins? I've been waiting for over two hours!! Did anyone try closing the waiting screen and trying again??

*edit- I reread that and it sounded like I was mad at you which of course I'm not, just frustrated with the system

i got the login page, then the waiting page, then the login page, then the error there is a problem with your account. i called them up and they just told me the system was not up yet. that was 25 minutes ago. now i am back at the waiting page.

If you've really been there that long I would re-go to the screen! That is just me and not official but I am pretty sure I had regone to the screen a time or two... Or at the very least open up a new browser. For example: If you are in firefox, then open up internet explorer and try that!

Anyway, good luck getting through! I am sure that you will all be able to get through!
