what to bring to an interview?

Im just wondering what to bring to an interview? like should we just come empty handed and be mentally prepared or should we bring something with us like a date planner or a notebook or something.....

Congrats on the interview first of all. As for what to bring, for my interview I brought a professional legal notebook which had some paper for me to write on. That's all you really need. Bring whatever is appropriate for the weather too. It was F' cold in Des Moines. Definitely have some questions written down in your notebook so at the end of the interview, you're prepared to ask questions. Good luck and just relax.

There were several women at my interview and they had their purses with them. They were by no means "professional" purses if there are any. They had purses that I guessed matched their outfits. Don't really know. They carried it around and stuffed the handouts we got into them. So i don't think it matters if you bring it.

at my two interviews I opted for a casual messenger bag (manhattan portage to be exact)...i thought a nice purse looked stupid with my suit and i certainly wasnt going to bring a briefcase or something like that. I was worried that my bag was going to be too casual but it turns out that when they call you in for the interview you can leave all your stuff in the room with the other applicants anyway! Good luck!

i brought a black messenger bag, but at all of my interviews i left it in the common area and did not bring it to the actual interview. there were women who brought purses and messenger bags or other type of large bags. they kept their purses INSIDE of these bags. ???

for the ladies, i also advice bringing comfy shoes for the tour. i know for my interview shoes i opted for look instead of comfort. and admissions lets you stash your things in the closet while you're interviewing. =)

i took in a lil black purse with me... and most other girls at my interview also took in their purses.. its no biggie...

i brought my "laptop" bag into the interview room and pulled out a notepad to write things down during the interview. i believe that really impressed the interviewers as i was taking to heart what the school is offering me as a med. student. they were looking at me, somewhat surprised that i actually jot notes down and even writing down questions.

so the consensus seems to be that it is appropriate to bring in some kind of a notebook (perhaps a professional looking one) and a pen to write with along during the interview?

Do you guys think a yellow legal pad is outside the bounds of professional notebookery? i understand image is so much in the interview and i guess i just wonder if a standard legal pad would stick out like ugly dirty shoes or [*gasp*] stubble or something.
