I am curious as to what to bring to the interview. I have my first ever D-school interview and I'm excited yet wayyy nervous. Should I bring any papers that I have been in? Am I expected to bring another copy of my file (transcripts, DAT scores, blah blah?) Or should I come with no notebook and paper and just show up empty handed? I just dont want to look unprepared. Thanks everyone...and good luck with all your interviews!

I have been bringing my day-planner with some questions I wanted to ask written down. VCU wanted me to bring some safety glasses for clinical observation purposes but the other schools didn't ask me to do that. You will be taken on a tour so I wouldn't bring anything you don't want to carry around for a while. The majority of the students I have observed at the interviews I've gone to don't bring anything. I have felt that having my planner with me sends a subtle message about being prepared and organized.

I think it's good to bring something that you can put all the papers they give you in. Maybe bringing a portfolio is good because then you have a legal pad on one side to take notes if you want, and it also doubles as a place to store all the stuff they give you.

How about a small breifcase? Anybody take that? Thats what i would usually take to a job interviews.

I think a lot of schools will give you a folder to put the information in. At least, that's how I remember it last year. I know that Case, UNLV, Arizona, and Marquette all give the students a folder to put their stuff in.

I, on the other hand, ended up lugging my luggage to each interview. Blah. Kindof an odd thing to do.

When I had my two interviews earlier, I brought my suitcase with me because I had to leave the town after interview. NYU had a closet for me to put my stuff there, and they were so nice to let me store it for an entire afternoon while I was shopping on Fifth Ave.

Tufts did the same for me as well, another girl stored her suitcase there, too. So bringing your suitcase is not uncommon, for those of you who are wondering about that. I met Fred (Freedyx) at my Tufts interview as well.

For both interviews, I brought a messagener bag (can be worn on the shoulder or carried like a briefcase) with my legal portfolio in it. I had a pen, and a notepad with some questions and notes written about the school. I think that's pretty much all you need.

Is it looked silly if I wear the suite and carry the back bag walking on campus the whole day? Except few times, I don't usually see people doing that.

grettlin,

I think it looks very wierd to wear a suit and backpack. (The guys from queer eye would kill you 😀).

I am wearing a black Donna Karan suit and a black Kenneth Cole leather breifcase.

And no, I'm not gay, my fiance is my queer eye.

guys,

i think you should just have a briefcase with a notebook inside. you probably would have something to write and it'll make you look very professional.

by the ways, very good choice of suit shawnone. thats what i wore but there is a defect in their suits and you have to work in the industry to notice it.

I didn't carry anything with me except my pen and camera. They will all give you folder to hang on.

We can always tell when someone is on campus for an interview. They are the only ones who are dressed up nice and look very uncomfortable.

Personally I wore khaki pants and a sweater and used my pda for some questions. Nothing special and they accepted me. 🙂
