This goes along with what to wear to the interview but is anyone bringing a purse, briefcase, notebook, etc? I don't know if it is appropriate to carry anything around with me...and keys!! Where am I going to put my keys? I feel like you'll be able to see them sticking out of my pocket.

women usually bring a purse then store it away in a closet once they arrive. bring a small notebook to take notes, though most of the time you'll never use it

Thank you so much for your reply! Very helpful

Unless requested, bring absolutely nothing.

I heard some people bring the instrument they play and artworks that they painted. Is this common?

No one does this.

I heard you should at least bring a notebook and your CV...

Many times the schools will provide you a notepad in case you want to write something, but you will likely NOT use it. Instead they give you lots of paper with information on it so you don't need to take notes. As for your CV, why would they need it when they will have your application in hand with them?

So no purse needed for girls? i should put my phone and a credit card or something in my pocket?

i took one credit card and 5 dollars, then hid my wallet in the car.

took the car key off the keychain and held the key one of my pocket.

Turned off the phone and hid it in the car.

and had a resume holder w/ resume and couple pieces of blank paper just incase if they want you to take notes. or act like taking notes. AND A PEN. 😀

I have seen many girls bring in their wallet to the interviews.

I HAVE EVEN SEEN one lady bring her book bag but she left it in the admissions office at a corner. so no need to stress over something soo little.

Just carry a small hand bag you would be fine.

Question. So i took a waxing course at ucla. We were recommended to bring the jaw of teeth that we waxed to the interview. What do you guys think about this?

I would take a classy portfolio sorta thing with pockets for some papers (resumes), a notebook and a formal looking, decadent pen. I think a formal occasion such as the interview requires that we only take things we would to a formal setting, no musical instruments, no knitting needles, not soldering irons, no arts pieces etc. I don't remember where, but I read an article that said we should treat interviews at professional schools the same way we would treat an interview at a Fortune 500 company - FULL of formality, absolutely no time or opportunity for histrionics!

You mean this is not our chance for show and tell like we did in first grade? 😀 😳

The schools have everything they need from us as applicants. Now we just have to bring our well groomed selves for a nice chat 😀

No do not DO THAT. this is an interview. this is not an art class. please do not take offense to this.

I never seen an applicant do this. it will make you stand out but not it a good way, you would feel awkward during the whole interview. and if you put it in front of the interviewer you are asking them to ask you what is that, which will make another awkward moment. So do not do it.

No offense at all. I just find it a bit odd that someone told me to bring it. Thanks for your answer
