What do we bring to interviews? Portfolio to hold CV and other paperwork? What about for us women; is a small purse inappropriate? We can't exactly carry keys and wallet in our suits. 😕

i'm bringing my boom box so i can breakdance during lunch break.

I would carry a small portfolio with a pocket to carry 1 key (for your car door - leave the others inside) and a few bucks or a credit card (I doubt you'll need it) if you can't fit this into your suit pocket. I never saw any of the women carry a purse but this may differ among specialties.

Excellent suggestion. Thank you very much!!

As for the boombox idea, you bring the music and I'll bring the mat.

I was planning on bringing a small attache case. Mine has a space for papers (so I can fit my resume and whatever papers or brochures they give me) as well as a fairly roomy pocket on the front which can hold my keys, wallet, palm pilot, and cell phone. It has a much more professional look than a purse. If you have something like this, or if it within your budget, it's something to consider. They also make a pretty handy carry on item for plane rides (if you are planning on flying to interviews).

i brought an ultra slim attache case to my first interview. it was heavy and cumbersome however. i smacked it while opening the door a couple of times. you have to factor in the weight of an overcoat around your arm also. if you don't mind the attention of carrying it (you'll be the only one with one), then by all means do so.

if you guys have a car. leave the coat in the car.

For the breakdance, will this be mostly "the worm" some "windmill" and an occasional "backspin" or will you take it to the extreme of a "headspin."

Also, do the "more competitive" programs require greater degree of difficulty in your routine. I have heard that the "community" programs make you "beat box" in place of using your boom box.

I love breakdancing and nearly became incontinent at reading the reply because of the great laughs and memories.

Peace out! Breakin 2 Electric Boogaloo!

No coatcheck?! So much for the wooing factor.

I'll have to pass on the headspin as it will ruin my hair, and heaven forbid I lose a valuable brain cell or two that may come in handy during the interview.

Fellas don't forget to sport your most baroque bowties. Looks even more prestegious when accompanied by an expensive imported monocle. Seriously, Altoid breath strips are good to bring along.

If you like to fidget like myself, then I suggest crossing your hands. It helps.

Best of luck to you all!

And begin each answer with "I say, smashing good question!" in an accent which proclaims to all that you think your name is Colonel Worthingsford, of the Queens Army, recently back from your service at your post in India.

Never fails.
