Hi All,

I need advice on what to do now. I have been rejected from a Post Bacc. Program and waiting on the answer from another. My job is letting me go now due to re-organization. So, I was thinking about simulating the Post Bacc. Program. The schools that I have reviewed have all their upper level science courses in the middle of the day and nothing after 6:00 p.m. I do need to get another job to pay the mortgage. Any suggestions on what I can do? Can I just go to school fulltime for a year and let financial aid pay the bills? Is this even possible with a mortgage and other expenses. All suggestions are welcomed.

You can go full time and let the loans take care of you 100% until you become a dentist... You might become a dentist with 300+ k worth of debt but if its what you want to do for the rest of your life, then by all means go for it, rock out your GPA, and good luck to you..

If you don't want to do this, then sell your house, put the money in your bank, and get a small (very small) apartment and live in it, eatting away your money from the house, and go full time to school

So, you are saying that Financial Aid can take care 100% of my living expenses if I am attending school full time?

i'm waiting right now on graduate school acceptance, but if I get accepted , belive me i'm going to take out as many loans as I can so I can pay the bills and survive for a year. the interest of most students loans are low, so it's not such a bad investment to borrow money from the govenment. The only thing don't take out "PLUS" loans because they have to be repaid 6 to 12 months after use, there are not eligible for deferment until you finish school. Hope this helped.

DanBarr,

So, this is what you are planning on doing? What are the disbursement of the loan monies. Are they every 6 months? Where can I go to find all these loans to support me. At the financial aid department of the school or online somewhere?

you need to call financial aid of your school and explain to them your situation.... they'll have you fill out some forms here and there and give you an exact amount of how much you can borrow from the government...

Now, in the case of which, you don't have alot to burrow (from the government).... you can always go to private banks (your school can also provide you a list of few of them), but be very carefull some of those banks don't have a fixed rate, which means they can have you start off at 6% interest rate (which is not bad at all) but then rape you with 20%+ for the remaining years....

i agree, those are the so called plus/private loans, try not to take those out!!!! if all possible.......make sure you speak with your financial aid person onced you've been accepted into the school, they are not really going to help you otherwise. Since you have a house and i'm hoping you have been paying on time, your credit has to be descent, this will help you even more to obtain some loans. The reason i'm doing this , taking out so many loans in graduate school, is because i'm planning to go to dental school , so my grades need to rock!!!!! I need some serious study time!!!!!! I can't screw up anymore or my dental dream is down the toilet.
