Anyone have any ideas about what to do after graduation while I reapply to medical schoool next year? Any thoughts are appreciated. Thanks!

i to an in a similar situation. What I have decided to do is to go study abroad again (i did once in my 3rd year in England, it was a lot of fun.) Now I want to go to Korea, my school has neat program that will allow e to this. I hope that by going to korea i will see more of the world, and learn how to adapt
to different cultures. Anywa thats what I want to do, and I am sure it'll look on a application.

Tigger,
Most masters programs are at least 2 years. Infact, most of the grad students at my school spend 3 years to get their masters.

I was in the same situation last year. After weighing all sides, I decided to start a masters program. I narrowed it down to either continue working at the local hospital for more health care related experience or a masters. If you look around you can find programs that will waive your tuition and pay a monthly stipend for teaching. I was a TA for anatomy last semester and am currently a TA in human physiology. The thing that is nice about teaching is that I probably learn more than my students. A masters program can also allow you to continue research in health related areas. With the research, you can try to get your name on an article to be published which is also a plus.
I'm not saying that a masters is the only way to go, but it worked good for me. There are a lot of things you can do next year. Think about something that would be constructive for your application and also enjoyable.

Will you be able to graduate in a year to be able to reapply the next go around? A lot of programs I have looked at take more than a year and I want to be able to reapply starting this summer. However, an upper level degree and research does sound good. Thanks for the info IDAHO.

Some med schools require you to complete the degree-seekinhg program you are in before you enter their school.

I have heard that too that schools want you to complete your upper level degree before entering med school. Do you think the EMT option is overdone?

I was a reapplicant this past year, and I just got my acceptance letter from one allopathic med school and am waiting for (hopefully) two more. In essence, I took off two years between college and med school. My advice to you, and to others out there, is to not worry too much about what specifically to do --don't feel like you have to follow the usual degree-seeking or research route. What admissions committees want to see is that you've matured, and that you've done something worth talking about. I worked in a social-service job for one year and traveled and lived in 6 different countries this past year. That gave me something to talk about during interviews!
