I need some help. I just took the DAT today and I need to know how to best spend my time before June 1st. I'd really like to apply the first day possible. Here's a breakdown of my classes and grades:

BIOL 1210 Principles of Biology 4.00 4.00 B+
CHEM 1210 General Chemistry I 4.00 4.00 A-
PHYS 3110 Physics of Human Body 3.00 3.00 A
BIOL 2420 Human Physiology 4.00 4.00 A
CHEM 2310 Organic Chemistry I 4.00 4.00 B+
CHEM 2315 Organic Chemistry Lab I 2.00 2.00 A
CHEM 2320 Organic Chemistry II 4.00 4.00 A
CHEM 2325 Organic Chem Lab II 2.00 2.00 A

At a community college:
Physics I and II (with Labs): A
Cell Biology (with Lab): A
General Chemistry II (with Lab): A

Overall GPA: 3.74
Science GPA: Probably around 3.60

DAT SCORES:
PA: 24
QR: 20
Reading: 20
Bio: 19
Gen Chem: 22
O Chem: 22
Total Science: 21
Academic Average: 21

I kind of took a while figuring out what I was going to do. Got my BS in economics from the University of Utah in about 2011. Trying to get everything together after that was a little difficult and instead I just focused on studying for the science courses I needed to come back to take and getting ready for the DAT. It leaves me with pretty lousy extra circulars:

I've been involved in Big Brother service for about 3 years now. I'm planning on shadowing my dentist starting next week. I'm a Young Leader with United Way of Salt Lake. Other than that not really much coming to mind. I haven't done research which specifically worries me. It's just that I don't want to delay applying another year just to get some of these things improved since I'm not in school anymore. Sounds awful to have to wait until Fall 2016.

Sorry about how lengthy this is. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Good grades, good DAT, youre fine. Just finish your shadowing and work on your personal statement. Your ECs are fine too. I wouldn't be worried if I were in your shoes.

Your grades, DAT, and volunteer work are definitely good enough to get accepted. I wouldn't be concerned about the research unless you're applying to schools that are big on that. However, I would be concerned about shadowing. If I'm understanding correctly, you're going to do your first shadowing like two weeks before you apply? I think that will seem kind of strange to the adcoms because you can't really know for sure that you want to be a dentist if you haven't even shadowed one and seen what they do. Other than that, everything looks solid. Good luck.

Well I've obviously seen what they do it's just that the hours I officially have are going to be reported as May 2014. Is that going to look so dumb that it seriously hurts my chances?
