Hello,

Long story short, I'm in my 3rd semester of my undergraduate studies at a community college (athletics drew me to CC not because I couldn't get into a 4 year). I'll be transferring schools within the next year, I've been knocking out my gen ed's and basic science courses but I've made up my mind that I would like to attend medical school. My main problem is however, that I have no idea what to major in! I love biology, but I have the constant doubts in my mind that I won't get into med school right away (probably due to 2 C's I got freshman year) then what?! If anyone has advice/opinions on majors your input is appreciated.

Your major really doesn't matter too much in terms of medical school admissions. I would focus on getting good grades in your pre-reqs, crushing the MCAT, and gaining some clinical experience. You can recover from two C's your freshman year. DO schools allow grade replacement. I believe AMCAS averages your attempts.

My undergrad major? Weather (aka, meteorology).

Edit: Your CC does grant a 4-year degree, correct?

Correct, but the courses I am taking right now will transfer. (Chemistry, English, etc.)

CCs are usually two year programs. I've only heard of one that grants a four year degree and that's because they were converting to
a four year degree school. CCs DO grant Associate degrees. But why did you even ask this question ? OP you can major in anything you want that is interesting to you and that you will
do well in.

If you are planning to transfer, major in anything you want. When you do transfer, major in anything you want. Just make sure you have all your bases cover in terms of admission requirements.

I would also be aware that there are some MD schools that have no formal pre-reqs (ETSU comes to mind). But even with that, you can major in anything.

Two C's will not destroy your application. I know numerous individuals who had a 2.0, and graduated with a 3.75.. Major in anything you find interesting. Actually, if you want to stand out a tad bit, I recommend a humanity major.
