Im debating about what to wear when I sit in on a VCOM class in a week. I dont want to stand out like an idiot yet I dont want to be underdressed. Anyone have a good idea?

I don't know specifically about that school, but if you go online they usually have a guide for incoming students on dress code. Almost all of the schools I've looked at require guys to be in khakis and a polo shirt. Like I said though just check out the schools site and see what they say.. hope that helps a little..

I haven't been to VCOM but I would assume its like my school, NYCOM. Most people wear whatever they want- scrubs, shorts and t-shirt, jeans, a few of the older students wear khakis. If i were sitting in, I'd just wear some nice jeans and a polo shirt- that seems to be most commonly what med students wear at NYCOM.

Are you planning on talking to faculty or any admissions persons? If so, I would dress in a shirt and tie. In fact, i would probably overdress even if I weren't talking to the staff. I don't think it could hurt you to dress nicely, but could if you didn't.

VCOM requires students dress professionally during lectures with the exception of exam days.

When I went there students were not dressed to the nines but they did say no jeans or flip flops. However, I think shirt and a tie is a good idea so you can stop by and say hello to Megan or Bea in the admissions office. It never hurts to remind them of your name and face!

I went attended a lecture at MSU and wore a shirt and tie, even though there is no dress code policy.

Overdressing can do you no harm but under dressing might. What image do you want to leave with the prof and admissions? I think you do want to stand out in a positive way that says you are serious about this. Having done business interviews, if someone comes under dressed, that is the first item discussed after they leave. Instead of looking at your strengths, they are talking about how you look. Stupid I know but that is how the game is played.

I want to kick him/it. Looks like fun!
