I am about finished with my vmcas personal statement and am now working on the various supplemental essays. I am a bit stuck on what to write about when they ask you why you want to study at their school.

I read over their website and could not come up with many good reasons other than those that I assume are not appropriate (OOS #'s, tuition a little lower, I like the area etc). I think I obviously need to focus on their program with my essay and have included a few things about it but they give you a page to do this so I feel like I would be hard pressed to fill it up.

Any thoughts?

Thanks!

Are there any facilities that the school has that you look forward to seeing/using? What about research that's done there that's particularly interesting? I think you're correct that they're looking for a little more than "It's cheap and close to home" so, while I think it's okay to say you loved the area, you probably want to focus on what the program itself has to offer you and how that influenced your decision to apply there.

I managed to get enough information in there, I talked about the facilities as you recommended.

I am now on to ohio and was just wondering if there were any good ideas about what to write about for them. Their essay questions asks us why we should be accepted without repeating anything in our personal statement.

I was thinking to write about surgery I had and how I overcame it. I thought they are asking us to write about something that has nothing to do with vetmed/animals/academics.

Thanks!

I too am applying to Ohio and wondering what they are expecting with that question. It didn't exactly say not to expand on ideas in your PS, just said not to repeat what you had in your PS. No clue what to write about, started something, but it was pretty bad. Maybe I could expand on opening my own non-profit there.

I think Ohio is basically asking us what makes us compeitive applicants that has nothing to do with animal/vetmed/academics.

Yeah, with supplementals, it's all about who you are besides all of those insignificant animal/vet/academic experiences😛 😉. I don't know what Ohio's are like but the ones I wrote were....interesting to say the very least. 😀 Best of luck though! If you have a specific question/want someone to bounce some ideas off of, feel free to PM me :biglove:
