Hi guys!

I am currently at grade 12 and I will soon have to start my application process. My ultimate goal is to enter pharmacy school after 2 years of undergrad (not sure whether that's realistic or not 😕). The problem is that I am not sure which program (or major) is the best in terms of preparing me for the pharmacy school!

In general, is it better to go to a smaller university (e.g. Guelph) and get a good gpa or go to a "big name school" such as uoft or mcgill?

Finally which of the following universities would you recommend for doing an undergrad in sciences (keeping in mind that i need to get a good gpa)?!?

1. uoft
2. Guelph
3. Western
4. Queen's
5. McGill
6. Waterloo
7. UOIT

Oh and btw which pharmacy school has a better program: uoft or waterloo? and what kind of gpa is needed to enter the program?

I would HIGHLY appreciate any advise since i want to make the right decision about my education! 😀

Ok i cant fully answer everything but ill try. It is very possible to get all the pre reqs done in two years so there is no problem there. The major question is up to you. If you concentrate just on pre reqs you may not have to declare a major. On school go to the school you find you like the best or most comfortable in. For me it was finances, im going to a CC for most of my pre reqs. And finally to find out which programs are the best is to email current students to find out there take on the school. Well whatever i did not say or said wrong someone else will fill in.

Contact the admission office of your schools of interest. They will tell you which major is best for their pharmacy program or the GPA they're looking for.

You should decide if you can handle the workload in a big name school. You could spread out the classes but it would take longer. A rule of thumb is the bigger the name, the higher chance, but who knows?

Thanks guys for the info!😉

btw is there anyone here going to Guelph for sciences??? If yes, how do you like the experience and would you recommend your school?

I don't think the school you do your pre-reqs at really matters. What matters is the grades you get for those pre-reqs. As far as which school is better, U of T is very difficult to get into and has been around for a long time. They also have a PharmD program if you're interested in that. Waterloo requires 2 years of pre-reqs and is the newest pharmacy school in Canada. Both will look at your grades first, so make sure you have MINIMUM B's in all pre-reqs. A's are even better.
