MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (AP) — West Virginia University says basketball coach Bob Huggins' rib-breaking fall occurred because medication taken on an empty stomach left him lightheaded.

President James Clements and Athletic Director Oliver Luck told the Charleston Daily Mail that Huggins stood too quickly, tripped and fell into a table in his Las Vegas hotel room last week.

I mean, don't get me wrong, I think he was just drunk off his ass.

But let's say he's telling the truth. What do you think he was taking?

He is obese and has had an MI.

....

This should be fun.

Link is dead Mikey...

And any BP modulating medication can cause orthostatic HTN.

I hate studying law - It is more boring than???

Beta Blocker or ACEI... or an ARB.

What ^ said...orthostatic hypotension. Dangle your feet before you get up.

But what of the empty stomach thing?

The presence of protein helps with the absorption of beta-blockers. So the empty stomach thing doesn't fly there.

And I'm pretty sure most of the alpha blockers don't really have an effect with food.

What drug causes orthostatic hypertension on an empty stomach? I'm too lazy to look it up myself.

empty stomach thing is an excuse to cover up that mofo being drunk.

General public correlates taking drugs on empty stomach with an adverse event... they've heard enough times to not take aspirin or advil on empty stomach..

Hypotension

hth

That would be freaking sweet though. You stand up and your heart explodes because of the orthostatic hypertension. A new, horrible, and frightening way to die.

...

Is there a drug that fits this profile though...anyone?

Empty stomach + drug = the woozies.

You know what I meant dang it...

Side note - Can someone talk to me about the Corresponding Responsibility and OBRA? If a physician, after conferring on prescription, requests you to fill a script for an incorrect dosage (lets say unusually high), you are still liable?

Boff y'all... said HTN. How can I let that go???

Now... good try at threadjack with that lame question...

the real answer is Coreg

Maybe...and it does have alpha effects...I don't really buy beta as an inducer of OH. But even though that MIGHT be the answer...I still don't buy that, either.

I suppose that would be considered a possibility.

Damn...I was hoping his excuse could be disproven.

I like SDN because I don't have to look **** up anymore. I can just make you people do it for me.

It's coreg.

Food slows the absorption of coreg.

Yeah. But only because it has that alpha side-dish thing going on.

But I still don't buy it and I think he was drunk off his ass.

That or his ****ing physician needs to tell him not to take it at 4PM in Las Vegas...

Dood,

Make up your mind. We've already established that he was drunk.

You were seeking for a drug that needs to be taken with food to reduce the therapeutic effect...especially the hypotensive effect.

Get with it rookie!

Blah blah blah.

I'm just upset that his excuse barely checks out.

You mean it's possible he was telling the truth...

It's Bob Huggins. He's blitzed during games sometimes. If something happens, you assume he was drunk until proven otherwise.

A few months ago, he showed up to work one day with a black eye, didn't notice it until someone told him about it...and said...I'm not making this up..."Uh, yeah, I ran into a doorknob." A 6'6" dude ran into a doorknob.

Last year, he tripped and fell over a parking cone in an airport parking lot...scraped his head up...

...

It's fun to watch.

Maybe he was hypoglycemic from his Prandin.

Bob Huggins sounds like the name of a home-style southern fried artery clogging country eating establishment.
