I'm looking for more challenging classes to take that are intellecutally stimulating.

Juggling p-chem, biophysics, cell bio. What was your favorite class?

I really liked biochem and molecular cell. Parasitology was good too, and I took an integrated science course called "applied analysis" that was absurdly difficult but also probably the most interesting class I took in undergrad.

Cognitive psychology, neuroscience, biology of cancer, and immunobiology were probably my faves. Anything having to do with the brain really, it's such a fascinating organ!

My all time favorite was just regular physiology. It was really cool learning the mechanistic functions of the body.

Neurobiology was probably my favorite. Highly recommend trying to incorporate some sort of neuroscience class into your studies-it's such a critical and booming field right now.

Agreed. Both genomics and neuroscience are going to have huge implications for science and medicine.

What did you study in applied analysis?

Parasitology, without a doubt.

History of Medicine. It's science-related and an easy A, but learning why the American health care system is as screwed up as it is compared to Canada was worth it.

Biology and Human Social and Sexual Behavior
The whole course was an explanation of why humans are the only animals that were able to build space ships and write symphonies. Basically it all came down to the fact that we evolved the ability to throw rocks.

Definitely physiology for me

Brain Disorders, Neurobiology, cell bio, Micro lab(if that counts). Also I loved Ochem, mostly because of my professor.

I really liked both semesters of Ochem, but my favorite was Biochem II simply because it was the one course that actually focused on disease beyond just molecular mechanisms (problem sets about inherited metabolic disorders etc.).

I loved both semesters of orgo also. Looking at drugs structures and knowing that I could hypothetically synthesize them is awesome.

At one point: Neuroscience.

Now: Biology of Cancer

Evolutionary biology. Only class I've ever had that felt like entertainment rather than school.

Microbiology I really enjoyed. It was so fun learning how to detect all the bacteria, and then apply that at the end for the unknowns. If I ever went past a bachelors in science, I'd go towards micro.

Human anatomy and physiology, Immunology, Neurobiology, Neuroanatomy, Neuroendocrinology, Neurobiology of memory are all fascinating to learn- difficult though.

Health, Biomedicine, Society, and Culture should prob be required for all of us. And check out your school's Psych department. I took Cognitive Neuropsychology and it was awesomeee.

What did you study in applied analysis?

It basically was an analysis of known chemistry, physics and mathematics equations. We were deriving, graphing and trending these often very complex equations without calculus, but instead with complex algebra and taylor polynomials.

It was real cool, I actually am hoping to go over my notes in that class again to refresh my memory.

Pathophys, really hyped me up for what's to come + nursing students

Favorite Science Class: Genetics

Favorite Class: 19th Century Europe

Probably Cell Biology for me. Maybe tied with Modern Physics. Both are some of the few times I just kind of sat there and wondered in awe during a class. Part of that was probably the professors too--great lecturers really enhance the impression of the science behind the class.

I think I personally liked my neural systems class the best. It really covered amazing content.

Definitely an "Evolution of Infectious Disease" class I took my second year. It was mainly a biology class but the professor provided a lot of social context on the importance of the infections and how they are spread.

Medical microbiology was by far the best class I took as an undergrad. I had never had a class that held my attention the entire time.

It was also nice to finally have a human focused biology class, as all of the professors at my university tend to stray to much from the human topics and focus on model systems (sea urchins in Dev biology, electric fish in neuro).

I had this one class called "Evolution" that was actually really interesting. Lots of math and modeling but really cool. Prof looked a jedi master too lol

My other favorite was an intro to ecology course. The professor was like an old school naturalist kind of biologist and he knew so much about all the plants and animals of the world it was awesome. we even had field trips!
