Undergraduate GPA: (BS -Biological Sciences)
- cGPA: 2.77
- sGPA: 2.56

Graduate GPA: (MS -Medical Sciences)
- cGPA: 3.81 or 3.93

Hey guys! I will be apply the upcoming cycle with the stats provided above. I am torn at the fact that my GPA can be either 3.81 or a 3.93, depending on how my final goes. I was wondering if a GPA of 3.81 with 10 credits of academic update is still a competitive Graduate GPA?

All you can really do is crush the DAT to mitigate that undergrad GPA.

20s across the board and you're likely to be fine.

My current DAT stats:

PAT - 20
QR - 18
RC - 16
Bio - 19
Gen Chem - 18
Org Chem - 21
Science - 19
AA - 18

Im guessing, you recommend I retake it?

Retake now or early as possible. M.S 3.8 GPA is good. Where did you do your master?

I plan on retaking the DAT near mid-July. From the research Ive done, I believe that mid-July was the latest date to take the DAT and still be considered fairly early. Btw I am doing my Master's at Mississippi College.

Mid July is not late. Just make sure you have LORs and transcripts verified before July .

Retake the DAT, that 16 on RC is a big fat red flag.

The Master's GPA should make up somewhat for your undergrad. I had a 3.1 undergrad with a 2.9 science and a 3.7 in a non science Masters and it helped a lot, along with a good DAT.

Aim for a 20 or a 21 on the DAT and you should be okay for the private schools.

I will be left with about 9-10 weeks after Spring semester to study for the DAT, so hopefully that is enough time to be prepared. I plan to have my entire application completed prior to retaking my DAT, but I will not be sending it to dental schools until my DAT score has been updated on AADSAS.

What would you recommend I use to improve my RC score? Also, any dental schools in particular you would apply to with my stats?

I would start getting professors to write your letters of recommendations. That way things can move a little more smoothly once your final grades are in.
You obviously have to wait for your final grades to come out for your transcript so you can just be patient for that one.

If you are dead set on getting your application in during July, then you should probably start studying.

I think all your sciences need improvement too. You have a pretty low undergrad GPA, so you really got to prove to the admissions committee that you got that basic material locked down. Look at the DAT subsection for tips.

Honestly, get a few issues of various scientific periodicals, and read articles from those. And then summarize what the article was about and the main points, etc.

I didn't study at all for RC when I took the DAT because I had been reading so much scientific literature when I worked on my thesis that I felt I didn't need it, and I scored a 25 on it. It's about taking the time to read carefully, and understand the important points so that you don't have to go back to the article a hundred times. Read the articles actively, not passively.
