What would all of you surgeons out there do if you could not operate?

I am just curious, cause I know most surgeons are surgeons simply because they love to operate...so, what if circumstances prevented that, such as not matching in surgery, a disability or if you just had to pick a second choice carreer. What kind of back up plans did you make, if any, or what other work do surgeons find interesting?

I am looking forward to reading this....if I don't get to operate, I have no idea what I will do! Maybe a professional surfer or something :D

Hmmm...maybe do medical/surgical consultation, clinical or basic science research, or some other branch of medicine that isn't so invasive. Sure surgery is what surgeons love to do, but when it comes right down to it...bills have to be paid, family has to be taken care of, etc, etc. Performing surgery is great and all, but it is not the only thing (and definetly not the most important thing) in life.
